Product information "NOA 61 Optical Adhesive 1 oz bottle"

Refractive Index 1.56; 300 cps Viscosity at 25°C

Norland Optical Adhesive 61 is a clear, colorless, liquid photopolymer that will cure when exposed to ultraviolet light. Since it is a one part system and 100% solids, it offers many advantages in bonding where the adhesive can be exposed to U.V. light. The use of NOA 61 eliminates premixing, drying or heat curing operations common to other adhesive systems. Curing time is remarkably fast, and is dependent upon the thickness applied and the amount of ultraviolet light energy available.

NOA 61 meets Federal Specification MIL-A-3920 for optical adhesives and is approved for use on all government contracts specifying such adhesives. The adhesive is designed to give the best possible optical bond to glass surfaces, metals, fiberglass and glass filled plastics. NOA 61 is recommended for bonding lenses, prisms and mirrors for military, aerospace and commercial optics as well as for terminating and splicing optical fibers.

NBA 108 Blocking Adhesive 10g syringe
Refractive Index 1.51; 550 cps Viscosity at 25°C  NBA 108 (10g syringe) is a single component, UV curing adhesive used for temporary bonding of lenses to metal polishing mounts. This blocking adhesive is formulated to be used with polishing processes that use large amounts of liquid or use heavy grinding. The adhesive cures in minutes at room temperature by exposure to long wave UV light and eliminates the heat induced strain typical of the old fashioned hot pitch blocking methods. NBA 108 is specifically formulated to provide low shrinkage and low strain to further minimize any potential strain on the lens during the blocking process. Debonding is accomplished by soaking in acetone. The adhesive cures only by exposure to UV light in the range of 350 to 380 nanometers. Recommended light sources include mercury lamps, sun lamps, fluorescent black lights and xenon lamps. Norland Products sells a variety of light sources optimized for curing our adhesive. The adhesive needs 5 joules per centimeter squared of long wave UV energy to fully cure. Cure time will depend on the amount of UV energy the light source used generates at the surface of the adhesive. Solids 100% Elongation at Failure 18% Modulus (psi) 710 Tensile (psi) 101 Hardness - Shore D 25 Shelf life of the liquid is at least 6 months at room temperature if stored in the original container away from UV light. Prolonged skin contact should be avoided and affected areas should be washed with soap and water. Avoid prolonged vapor inhalation and use in a well ventilated area.

NOA 86H Optical Adhesive 1oz bottle
Refractive Index 1.55 Viscosity at 25°C 250-350 cps Norland Optical Adhesive 86H is an adhesive that will cure optically clear when exposed to long wavelength ultraviolet or visible light (blue-violet) or heat. The adhesive has low viscosity and meets the Bellcore specifications of 85C/85RH for 2000 hours as well as being USP Class VI biocompatible NOA 86H is recommended for bonding glass or plastic. NOA 86H is cured by ultraviolet light between 315 to 400 nanometers and visible light between 400 to 420 nanometers. The peak absorption wavelengths are 325, 365 and 400 nanometers. Minor absorption wavelengths are 410 and 420 nm. Full cure requires 2.5 Joules/cm 2 .In addition to the UV cure, NOA 86H contains a latent heat catalyst that can quickly cure areas that do not see the ultraviolet light. The catalyst allows the adhesive to cure in 10 minutes at 125°C in a convection oven, or 3 hours at 80° C. Faster cure times are possible with infrared ovens. Areas in contact with air will cure tacky unless exposed to UV light or given the 125° C cure. Temperatures less than 80°C will not activate the adhesive. The advantage of the heat cure is to bring partially cured adhesive to full cure to get the maximum physical properties of the adhesive. The heat cure is not required if all the adhesive receives proper exposure to UV or visible light. Typical Properties of NOA 86H Temperature Range -125°C to 125°C Elongation at Failure 2.8 % Modulus of Elasticity (psi) 360,400 Tensile Strength (psi) 7,834 Hardness - Shore D 75 75 Shelf life of the liquid is a minimum of 6 months from the date of shipment, refer to the package label for the actual expiration date, if stored in a cool (5-22° C), dark place in the original container.
