Output Current LD 0.5 A; Chassis Mount; Compatible with Type A & B Lasers Wavelength Electronics’ FL591FL series of laser diode driver evaluation boards allows you to quickly and efficiently evaluate Wavelength Electronics’ FL500 laser diode driver and prototype your laser electronics system. The evaluation board is designed so that you can fully characterize the included FL500 — you’ll know exactly how it will perform in your application, and there will be no surprises during the development process. Ultimately, you’ll bring your system to market faster and at lower cost. FL591FL can be configured to drive a single 500 mA output or two 250 mA independent outputs by setting onboard jumpers. The drivers operate in constant current or constant power modes. Onboard current setpoint and limit trimpots mean no external electronics are required to operate the drivers. Simply connect the power supply and laser diodes, and you’re ready to go. The FL591FL series is loaded with useful features to help simplify the prototyping process. For example, there are several setpoint-output combinations: Two independent outputs, each driving up to 250 mA, and controlled by separate setpoint signals or by a single setpoint signal alternatively; two independent 250 mA outputs controlled by a single setpoint signal; a single output, driving up to 500 mA. The current limits are set using onboard trimpots and without enabling the output. The setpoint is controlled using the onboard trimpots or the BNC connector for external control – or the two can be summed. Summing the setpoint signals makes modulating a laser easy and foolproof. The control mode — constant current or constant power — is set with onboard switches. When operated as two independent drivers, the two channels can be operated in different modes. An external signal is required to enable the output; this Enable input can be connected to a safety interlock or coupled to a temperature controller that will disable the output if the lasers exceed a safe operating temperature. Drive current and photodiode current monitor outputs can be tied to an external control and monitor circuit so you can characterize every aspect of your laser control system. The FL991FL series provides easy access to the setpoint and current limit reference signals for design evaluation and validation of your laser control electronics. It is also available without the FL500 controller installed – please contact AMS Technologies. Output Current LD 200-400 mA; DIP PCB Mount; Compatible with Type A, B & C Lasers Wavelength Electronics’ LDD P series of laser diode drivers come in two compact models to work with all laser diode/photodiode configurations. While the LDDX00-1P version drives type A & B laser diodes, the LDDX00-2P variant drives type C laser diodes. Each model is available in 200 mA and 400 mA versions to best fit your laser diode requirements. Very low leakage current (15 µA) makes the LDD P series ideal for driving most VCSELs using the remote modulation setpoint input. It operates from 5 to 12 V. Just add an external power supply and your laser diode to this simple 8-pin controller. When it is essential to have high performance in your application, these low-noise drivers offer excellent current stability in constant current mode. Precisely control the laser diode setpoint current with the onboard output current adjust trimpot or via a remote voltage to the modulation input. The modulation input’s small signal 3 dB bandwidth is DC to 2 MHz. For easy integration, the LDD P series allows users to measure laser diode current from a buffered monitor output. Optional evaluation boards are available to assist with operating any LDD P series module. An evaluation board and cable are available to speed implementation of the LDD laser diode driver in your application. In order to protect laser diodes, all LDD P series drivers are equipped with current limit protection, as well as slow start circuitry. Current limit protection ensures that the diode will not be overdriven, and the slow start circuitry protects the diode from thermal shock that can damage the laser at turn on. Output Current LD 2, 5 A; Output Current TEC 5, 10 A; Benchtop or Rack Mount; Compatible with Type A, B & C Lasers Wavelength Electronics’ LDTC LAB series of instrument type laser diode and TEC temperature controllers combine best-in-class low noise, high-end digital control laser diode driver technology with an IntelliTune® smart TEC temperature controller. If you need stable wavelength, stable temperature (better than 0.0009 °C with thermistors), stable laser diode current or power, or low noise (RMS laser driver noise as low as 7 µA), these offer the best performance and value. Two models are available, the LD2TC5 LAB and the LD5TC10 LAB. The LD2TC5 LAB outputs up to 2 and 5 A for the laser and thermoelectric, respectively. The LD5TC10 LAB outputs up to 5 and 10 A. Both models offer 10 V of laser compliance voltage and 15 V of thermoelectric compliance voltage. The touch-screen interface makes operation intuitive and simple. A LabVIEW® virtual instrument, remote command set, and USB interface allow integration into an instrument library. Operation in Constant Current (CC) or Constant Power (CP) mode changes with the touch of a button. A wide variety of sensors work in the temperature control feedback loop. Safety features protect the thermoelectric cooler (TEC) and the laser. Over- and under-temperature limits on the load, positive and negative (where applicable) current limits, and voltage limits can be set for both TEC and laser. If the sensor signal is lost or a short is detected at the TEC, output current is disabled. Passive and active interlocks are available for safety of equipment and user. Automatic laser shutdown upon TEC error is also available. You can link laser diode current to safe and stable thermoelectric operation. With Wavelength Electronics’ plug and play instrument, you have the ability to quickly set the controls using either the instrument touch screen or a remote computer, and results are easy to monitor. Wavelength Electronics’ proprietary IntelliTune® algorithm characterizes the TEC/sensor system’s response to the controller and determines the optimal PID control coefficients. It then automatically adjusts the PID control values as setpoint, tuning mode, or bias current change. Run IntelliTune® easily just off ambient and watch it change PID settings for a much higher or lower setpoint. After a single scan, explore either optimized Setpoint Response or Disturbance Rejection performance with your load to see which works best. Add or remove the D term to see if noise is an issue.IntelliTune® lets you skip the manual characterization and it’s smart enough to really work—very little adjustment is needed after you have stored a successful characterization scan. See Application Note IntelliTune® vs. Conventional Autotune for an in-depth exploration. An Interlock Kit containing a BNC terminator for the laser interlock and a pre-soldered DSUB to satisfy the laser interlocks is included with the instrument. Loose connectors for custom cable configuration are shipped with the unit. Full cables for both the laser connection and the thermoelectric connection are available. The LDMOUNT-5A, a 14-pin butterfly laser diode mount with integrated heat sinking, is available for simple connections between the LDTC LAB driver and the laser. Free, effective and responsive technical support is available to simplify integration of Wavelength products into your OEM design. Output Current LD 0.5, 1 A; Benchtop or Chassis Mounting; Output Current TEC ±2.2 A; Laser Compatibility Type A, B Wavelength Electronics’ LDTC series of laser diode drivers and TEC temperature controllers combines Wavelength Electronics’ proprietary FL500 and highly stable WTC3243 in one compact and easy-to-use module. All the controls and indicators are onboard for simple plug-and-play operation. LDTC modules are in use around the world providing trouble-free reliability in a broad range of applications. Wavelength Electronics has done critical research and design work into safely controlling laser diodes. The result is a module that saves you money in development and manufacturing and delivers trouble-free service over the life of the system. LDTC modules require minimal overhead electronics, so your engineers can focus on high-level design features that differentiate you from your competitor. The compact LDTC modules are easily mounted in your laser system, with latching connectors for easy manufacturing. The flexibility of the LDTC design allows the controller to be operated from a single power supply. The power supplies can also be separated, if your application requires higher compliance voltage. The laser driver is based on Wavelength Electronics’ popular FL500 series, known for low noise output and trouble-free operation. Two models are available, providing either 500 mA (LDTC0520) or 1.0 A output current (LDTC1020). The current limit circuit cleanly clamps laser diode current without ringing or overshoot and recovers without inducing a phase shift in a modulated laser signal. The temperature controller is designed around the WTC3243, Wavelength Electronics’ ultra-stable temperature control module known for the ability to sweep load temperature across ambient. Independent cooling- and heating-current limits allow the LDTC series to be used with thermoelectric coolers (TECs) or resistive heaters and either negative or positive temperature coefficient sensors. The LDMOUNT-5A, a 14-pin butterfly laser diode mount with integrated heat sinking, is available for simple connections between the LDTC and the laser. Output Current LD 2.2 A; Benchtop or Chassis Mounting; Output Current TEC ±2.2 A; Laser Compatibility Type A, B Wavelength Electronics’ LDTC2/2 series of module type laser diode drivers and TEC temperature controllers includes both a laser diode driver and a temperature controller that each drive up to 2.2 A. This series combines the drive power of the WLD3343 laser driver with the temperature stability of the WTC3243 TEC drivers on one small board. While LDTC 2/2 E includes the chassis enclosure, LDTC 2/2 O consists of the open frame electronics only. For lower laser diode current (500 mA / 1 A), the LDTC series of laser diode driver and TEC temperature controllers is available. Integrated controls make this a plug-and-play module – users have only to add a power supply, laser diode, thermoelectric cooler, sensor and heatsinking. All cable sets are included. The LDMOUNT-5A, a 14-pin butterfly laser diode mount with integrated heat sinking, is available for simple connections between the LDTC2/2 and the laser. The temperature controller is compatible with thermistors, RTDS or linear temperature sensors such as the LM335 or AD590. Adjust temperature using onboard trimpot or a remote voltage input. This voltage input has added default protection for when a D/A remote setpoint is turned off, unplugged or goes down and it automatically sets the temperature to control near ambient. Default is +25 °C for a 10 kΩ thermistor (1 V). Adjustable trimpots configure heat and cool limits. The laser diode driver maintains precision laser diode current (constant current mode) or stable photodiode current (constant power mode) using electronics compatible with A/B type lasers. The LDTC2/2 delays and slowly ramps the current for maximum protection. Onboard trimpots set current limit and setpoint.
