II-VI Incorporated is an industry-leading manufacturer of high-power semiconductor laser components enabling fiber and direct diode laser systems for material processing, medical, consumer and printing applications. In addition, II-VI Incorporated manufactures pump lasers for optical amplifiers for both terrestrial and submarine applications and vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) for optical navigation, optical interconnects and optical sensing applications.
CM96x Pump Laser Modules
Single Chip; 973-977 nm; Spectral Width 0.2 nm; Max. Output Power 0.18-0.6 W; 10-pin Mini Butterfly Package; Threshold Current 50-60 mA
Within the CM96x series, II-VI Incorporated offers a variety of single-chip pump laser modules addressing all areas of low-noise all-optical amplification and power consumption requirements.
Increasingly, network providers are concerned with component density and power consumption which translates into cost of installation and cost of ownership of a network. To address this, II-VI Incorporated offers a suite of 980 nm pump lasers from uncooled, semi-cooled and traditional-cooled pumps over a set of market leading power ranges.
CM96x series pump laser modules are designed as pump sources for erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) applications. Processes and techniques of coupling the fiber to the laser allow high output powers that are very stable with both time and temperature. The CM96x series uses a 10-pin mini-butterfly (mBTF) package with mounting holes for ease of integration and thermal management, enabling smaller form factor designs. The 10-pin mBTF package is backward compatible with 14pin BTF package footprint and pinout.
CM96Z***-7* TEC-cooled, 10-pin butterfly, 980 nm pump laser modules utilize a fiber Bragg grating design for enhanced wavelength and power stability performance. This product has been designed to ensure superior wavelength locking over drive current, temperature and optical feedback changes. CM96Z***-7* devices are available with kink-free output powers to 600 mW.
CML96Z***-7* is the low power consumption version of CM96Z***-7*. These pump modules operate at significantly reduced TEC and overall power consumption. CML96Z***-7* devices are also available with kink-free output powers to 600 mW.
The UM96Z***-7* high power, extended temperature, uncooled, 980 nm pump laser are II-VI Incorporated’s third-generation uncooled pump modules providing higher powers and lower consumption. These lasers enable designers to create reliable SFF single- and multi-channel, high-bit-rate per-channel amplification as well as replace traditional cooled pumps in high-power EDFA applications with reduced power consumption. The UM96Z-series is designed for uncooled operation at high temperature and power levels. Qualification of the enhanced G08 chip ensures high reliability even at 460 mW operating power and +75 °C. External fiber Bragg grating (FBG) stabilization provides excellent wavelength and power stability over the entire operating temperature range.

CM97x Single Mode Laser Diode Modules
976, 1030, 1064 nm; Spectral Width 0.15-2 nm; Output Power Peak 0.8-1.5 W; Output Power CW 0.2-0.91 W; Butterfly Package; Threshold Current 40, 60 mA;
For the CM97x series of high-power single mode laser diode modules, II-VI Incorporated has applied processes and techniques of coupling the fiber to the laser that allow very high output powers that are stable with both time and temperature.
CM97x series laser diode modules in hermetically sealed 10-pin Mini-Butterfly packages utilize a polarization maintaining (PM) fiber pigtail and achieve a high pulse output power of 0.8 to 1.5 W.
Five versions of CM97x series single mode laser diode modules are available:
The 976 nm wavelength-stabilized module CM97-1000-76PM with fiber Bragg grating (FBG) has been designed as a pump source for industrial pulsed fiber pre-amplifiers as well as for erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) laser applications. The pump module utilizes a PM fiber pigtail and a fiber Bragg grating design for enhanced wavelength and power stability performance. Devices achieve high kink free output powers of 1 W.
The pulsed 1064 nm module CM97A1064 without fiber Bragg grating (FBG) has been designed as a light source for pulsed fiber lasers and CW applications that require 1064 nm single mode light. Devices achieve high kink free output powers of 1.5 W pulse peak.
The pulsed 1064 nm wavelength-stabilized ultra-broadband module CM97A1064BFBG with fiber Bragg grating (FBG) has been designed as a light source for pulsed fiber laser applications. An ultra-broad bandwidth grating enables a controlled broad spectrum that helps to suppress SBS generation in pulsed fiber lasers.
The pulsed 1064 nm wavelength-stabilized narrow-bandwidth module CM97A1064NFBG with fiber Bragg grating (FBG) has been designed as a light source for pulsed narrow bandwidth fiber laser and direct frequency conversion applications. A narrow bandwidth grating located in the polarization maintaining optical fiber close to the package allows for short pulse operation.
The 1064 / 1030 nm wavelength-stabilized module CMDFB10xxA has been designed as a light source for pulsed narrow bandwidth fiber laser and direct frequency conversion applications. A distributed feedback grating (DFB) located in the laser cavity results in the wavelength stabilization within couple of round trips. The laser chip and package are optimized for sub-ns pulse operation.
