LUx Pump Laser Modules

Product information "LUx Pump Laser Modules"

972-978 nm; Spectral Width 0.2 nm; Max. Output Power 0.1-0.5 W; Mini-DIL Package, Ultra-small Package; Threshold Current 55 mA

The LUx series of uncooled pump laser modules provide low power consumption for highly reliable operation. These 980 nm pump lasers are built on II-VI Incorporated’s field-proven OC-2 packaging and fiber alignment platform and rely on II-VI Incorporated’s market-proven G08 lasers to ensure superior wavelength locking performance, reliability and stability.

LUx pump laser modules are available in three versions:

The LU96Z series of uncooled pump laser modules in an 8-pin mini-DIL package are II-VI Incorporated’s third-generation uncooled pump modules providing low power consumption for highly reliable metro, cross-connect, SFF single and multi-channel amplifier designs plus high bit-rate, per-channel amplification. The LU96Z-series is designed for uncooled operation at high temperature and power levels. Qualification of the enhanced G08 chip ensures high reliability even at high operating power and +75 °C. External Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) stabilization provides excellent wavelength and power stability over the entire operating temperature range.

II-VI Incorporated’s MLU96Z series are uncooled 980 nm pump laser modules in a compact 3-pin micro-format package. Designed to meet stringent reliability and power-efficiency requirements, applications include ultra-compact amplifiers for current and next generation high-bit-rate transceivers. MLU96Z series modules measure only 141 mm3 in volume and are available with 80 µm polarization maintaining (PM) fiber supporting 5 mm bend radius, or 125µm single mode (SM) fiber supporting 7.5 mm bend radius. The MLU96Z series consumes less than 0.5 W of power under typical use conditions at up to +85°C. Extended temperature range options support operation at -20 °C.

II-VI Incorporated’s LUS series of 980 nm submarine pump laser modules are designed and manufactured in Zurich, Switzerland, leveraging a high-reliability legacy that spans more than 20 years. A datasheet for the LUS series is available upon request.
