EPIGAP Optronic’s EOAPD series of silicon avalanche photodiodes (APD) provide an internal gain mechanism, fast time response, low dark current and high sensitivity in the near infrared region.
These APDs are recommended for applications that require high bandwidth, or where internal gain is needed to overcome high pre-amp noise. In addition, they provide higher sensitivity than standard photodiodes like EPIGAP Optronic’s EOPD series and are ideal for extreme low-level light detection and short pulse detection.
Silicon avalanche photodiodes (Si APDs) are the preferred optical detectors for applications with wavelengths between 400 nm and 1100 nm. Standard versions are available in active area sizes with a diameter of 230 µm and 500 µm and are offered in hermetic TO cans and LCC packages.
These detectors have become the semiconductor equivalent of photomultipliers in many applications including data communication, LIDAR, instrumentation and photon counting.

LED display chips enable to present numbers, letters and symbols. EPIGAP Optronic’s EODC-660-19-xx series of monolithic LED display chips provide various functionality and information in optical instruments.
Each segment is separately addressable. The red colour (660 nm) of these GaAsP-based chips is visible at low currents, resulting in extended battery life in battery-powered, mobile, portable optical instruments.
Various customized layouts like digits and symbols are available from development to serial product, with up to 30 segments per chip and multi-chip feasible. The starting point for any optoelectronic solution is the LED chip, which essentially determines the future product characteristics of the LEDs. EPIGAP Optronic provides the EOLC series of high-end LED chips from 355 nm in the UV range up to 1720 nm in the infrared range with high efficiency and very good degradation stability
These LED chips with chip sizes from 265 x 265 μm to 365 x 365 μm feature a low variance of optical and electrical parameters. Excellent measuring technology supports production and ensures compliance with the quality requirements. This allows the chips to be selected according to optical and electrical parameters with an accuracy of up to ±3 nm.
All LED chips undergo high-speed tests with 100 % analyzed spectrum as well as analysis for secondary and side peak, analysis for FWHM. Visual inspection for displays is provided as well as additional visual inspection for homogeneity of emitting intensity on request.
Highly efficient power LED chips are available in the spectral range from 365 nm (UV) to 1050 nm (NIR) with high degradation stability and lifetime testing. Chip sizes of power LED chips range from 650 x 650 μm up to 1000 x 1000 μm or even more.

EPIGAP Optronics’ EOLC-xxx-19-xx series of point source LED chips is designed to form a parallel light beam. The double wire bond construction on top eliminates any obstruction and dark spots.
Available wavelengths are green (572 nm), red (625 nm and 650 nm) and infrared (850 nm) with apertures of emitting area Ø 10 µm, Ø 25 µm, Ø 50 µm and Ø 100 µm. EOLC-xxx-19-xx point source LED chips provide a very narrow, defined and precise beam and an optional ball lens. They offer effective suppression of undesirable side radiation along with simple collimation and feature high coupling efficiency to optical fibers

With the EOLS series, EPIGAP Optronic provides a variety of different LEDs in SMD cases as standard products, featuring viewing angles from 40° to 180°, with normal and special squint lens types.
Standard SMD packages include 1206, 0805, PLCC4, Sidelooker and Ceramic. Different layouts are available with 1 to 4 chips as well as with power chips. This series’ thermal resistivity of about 150 K/W allows a power dissipation of <100 mW.

The EOPC series includes GaP, Si, InGaAs and AlGaAs photodiode chips. For more standard applications, EPIGAP Optronic’s photodiode components are also available housed in molded plastic, hermetic TO and SMD packages (EOPD series) with high degradation stability and good matching with LEDS.

EPIGAP offers a wide range of photodiodes in the ultraviolet (UV), visible (VIS) and infrared (IR) spectral range. The EOPD series includes GaP photodiodes, Si and SiC photodiodes as well as InGaAs and AlGaAs photodiodes.
Available in 5 mm molded plastic, SMD 1206 and hermetic TO packages (TO-5, TO-46 and TO-52), the EOPD series photodiodes are designed for applications requiring low dark current, high reliability and high sensitivity. Further advantages of the EOPD series photodiodes are degradation stability, good matching with LEDs, no stray light problems and optional miniaturization.
The range of standard products is supplemented by specialties with larger active sensor surfaces or extended sensitivity from 150 nm (low UV) up to 2600 nm in the higher infrared range. For customer-specific designs, EPIGAP Optronic’s photodiode components are also available as bare photodiode chips (EOPC series) with high sensitivity and low dark current.
