WFC-Series Multi-wavelength Fiber-coupled LED Light Sources

Product information "WFC-Series Multi-wavelength Fiber-coupled LED Light Sources"

Multi-wavelength LED Module; 365-980 nm; Typical Radiant Flux 0.07-19.2 mW; Iop 0.5-1 A; Vop 1.4-3.9 V

Mightex’s WFC-Series of multi-wavelength fiber-coupled LED light sources are enabled by the latest LED technologies, and Mightex’s proprietary beam combining and coupling optics. Up to eight LEDs are coherently combined into a single multi mode fiber with the highest efficiency practically possible. Each LED can be powered individually or simultaneously to produce a tuneable spectrum.

The WFC-Series LED light sources are offered in two configurations – standard and high-power. Neutral beam combiners are used in the standard configuration. The standard configuration has the advantage of low cost and the most flexible wavelength plans. Any wavelength and white colour may be combined in the standard configuration.

For applications that require the highest possible output power, however, one should choose the high-power configuration where high-efficiency dichroic beamsplitters are used to combine different wavelengths. Because not all possible dichroic beamsplitters are in stock, some wavelength combinations may require customization. Please contact AMS Technologies with your detailed wavelength plan to obtain a quotation for custom higher-power configurations.

A wide range of LED wavelengths from 365 to 980 nm and white colours are available for users to choose from. The selected LEDs are installed in the light source chassis in the factory. Fiber coupling is through a standard SMA port, and hence customers may use different fibers with the LED light source according to the specific requirements of their applications. SMA-connectorized fiber patchcords are available in various core diameters and numerical apertures.

A 4-channel light source includes a 5-ft electrical cable, and an 8-channel source includes two such cables. Each cable has an 8-pin locking connector on one end to be plugged into the light source, and four pairs of bare-wire terminals at the other end. Each pair of terminals should be connected to a separate channel of a LED controller.

Users can drive the installed LEDs individually or simultaneously using a Mightex multi-channel LED controller or other constant current sources. A cooling fan with heat sinks is built into the light source. When two or more wavelengths are running at full power, the fan should be turned on to maintain low temperature of the LED junctions, in order to prevent LED damage due to over-heating. A separate power supply is included for driving the cooling fan.

Mightex 4-channel multi-wavelength light source can be ordered with 2 and 4 wavelengths, and the 8-channel source can be ordered with 6 and 8 wavelengths. In the standard configuration (which is NOT supported by the 8-channel source due to low efficiency), output power of each wavelength decreases with the total number of wavelengths, while in the high-power configuration the output power does not change much with number of wavelengths.

The AvaLight-DH-S is Avantes’ most powerful deuterium-halogen source. Like the DHc, the DH-S is also a combined deuterium and halogen light source, capable of transmitting light in the UV/VIS/NIR-range, but has 35 times more halogen output and up to 300 times more deuterium power. The source has a prominent 656 nm deuterium peak which can limit dynamic range (see Avalight-DH-S-BAL as an alternative). It includes a focusing lens assembly, to fully utilize the possibilities and size of your fiber. The AvaLight-D-S is a deuterium light source only, making it a great option for measurements in the UV range, 190 to 400 nm. The AvaLight-D-S-DUV version starts even lower at 175 nm, for your deep-UV experiments. This version also offers twice the intensity at 200 nm. The output of the AvaLight-D(H)-S light source is optimized for fibers or bundles up to 600 µm. For larger fibers, the focal point is manually adjustable to optimize the light coupling into your fiber. The AvaLight-D(H)-S also features an integrated TTL-shutter and filter holder for filters of up to 50 x 50 x 5.0 mm. AvaLight-DH-CAL Calibrated Light Sources
200-1099 nm; Calibration Repeatability ±1.0%; Calibration Relative Uncertainty ±9%-±10%; Bulb Output 5, 80 µW cm-2 nm-1; Power Supply 100-240 VAC Calibrating your spectrometer has never been easier: Avantes’ AvaLight-DH-CAL series are NIST-traceable, calibrated light sources to measure absolute spectral intensity with. For calibrations in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible (VIS) range (200 to 1099 nm), the AvaLight-DH-CAL is the best solution. This source can be used with all AvaSpec spectrometers to calibrate for absolute spectral intensity. It is supplied with a built-in diffuser, a cosine corrector (CC-VIS/NIR) with SMA adapter and a CD-ROM containing the calibration files in ASCII format. Two calibration files are included: one for irradiance calibration over the full range (200 to 1099 nm) and one over the visible and near infrared range (350 to 1099 nm). For the first file, both the deuterium and the halogen bulb should be used during calibration. The second file is to be used with only the halogen light. The halogen-only spectrum provides a smoother black-body calibration spectrum for the longer wavelengths. The calibration files can be imported in the AvaSoft-IRRAD application software for intensity calibration, which turns your spectrometer into a spectroradiometer. For a more balanced spectrum across the 200 to 1100 nm range, Avantes offers the AvaLight-DH-BAL-CAL light source. For ultraviolet range calibration only (200 to 400 nm), the AvaLight-D-CAL is the right choice. The AvaLight-DH-CAL-ISPxx is a special version of these calibrated light sources, meant to facilitate coupling of the AvaSphere-xx-IRRAD integrating spheres (xx is 30, 50 or 80) to the light source. The AvaLight-DH-CAL, AvaLight-DH-BAL-CAL and AvaLight-D-BAL-CAL all include a power supply. Key Features: Flexible Calibration Ultraviolet (UV) and Visible (VIS) Range Built-in Diffuser and Cosine Corrector Calibration Use: Irradiance µW cm-2 nm-1 Calibrated Surface: CC-UV/VIS or AvaSphere Wavelength Range: 200 to 1099 nm Calibration Repeatability: ±1.0% Calibration Relative Uncertainty to NIST Standard: ±10% (200 to 240 nm), ±9% (240 to 350 nm), ±10% (350 to 400 nm), ±9.5% (400 to 1100 nm) Calibration Valid for 60 h Warm-up Time: ca. 30 min Bulb Output: 80 µW cm-2 nm-1 (@215 nm), 5 µW cm-2 nm-1 (@800 nm) Power Supply: 100 to 240 VAC Dimensions: 315 x 165 x 140 mm Applications: Calibration of Spectrometers in UV or VIS Wavelength Range; Measuring Absolute Spectral Intensity

AvaLight-DH-S-BAL Deuterium-Halogen Light Source
Balanced Power; 200-2500 nm; Drift <±0.1, <±0.5%/h; Optical Power 6-448 µW; Halogen Lamp Colour Temperature 3,000 K; Power Supply 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz Avantes’ AvaLight-DH-S is a powerful light source, but, like any unbalanced deuterium-halogen source, it does have a very dominant alpha peak at 656 nm. This is why Avantes developed the DH-S-BAL, in which this peak is drastically reduced by a dichroic filter. This means less power, but an increase in the dynamic range of a factor 20. The light source delivers a continuous spectrum with high efficiency. The highest stability is in the ultraviolet (UV), visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) range, from 200 to 2500 nm. An integrated TTL-shutter and filter holder for filters of up to 50 x 50 x 5.0 mm are included. The filter holder can be easily replaced by a direct-attach cuvette holder CUV-DA-DHS, useful for fluorescence or absorbance measurements. The TTL-shutter can be controlled from any AvaSpec spectrometer, which means the auto-save-dark option in AvaSoft software can be used. Connection to the fiber is done through an SMA-905 connector, which features an adjustable focusing lens assembly. This ensures you have the maximum possible power into your fiber. For all deuterium light sources, solarization resistant fibers (-SR) are recommended. The output of the AvaLight-DH-S-BAL is optimized for fibers or bundles up to 1500 µm.
