UBAR™ UV LED Flood Curing Systems

Product information "UBAR™ UV LED Flood Curing Systems"

Homogeneous & Linear; Irradiance ≤500 mW/cm²; Wavelength 365, 385, 395, 405 nm; Power Supply 48 VDC, 160 W; Active Air Cooling With Fans

The UBAR™ series of homogeneous & linear UV LED flood curing lamps has been designed by UWAVE for repeatable and large-area irradiation processes. Its homogeneity enables curing of larger areas and makes this series of UV LED flood curing systems suitable for a wide range of applications such as curing, bonding or photoaging.

Thanks to its optical design, several UBAR™ systems can be added and arranged in series without shadowed areas to adjust lighting length to mechanical & optical specifications. Thus, optical length is adjusted in 200 mm unit increments to obtain long UV lines and to fit process needs.

Available wavelengths include 365 nm, 385 nm, 395 nm, 405 nm and 465 nm. Any other wavelength (UV-C, UV-B, Visible and IR) is available upon request, please contact AMS Technologies for further details.

For powering and controlling the UCUBE™ systems, UWAVE provides different types of UPOWER™ UV LED power supply & control units for different requirements.

For better integration into automates manufacturing processes, a control module allows communication with the UBAR™ UV LED systems to prevent LED issues. In case of LED fault, the UBAR™ system will send out an error signal. It is also possible to control UBAR™ systems directly from the PLC (Programmable Logic Control) to facilitate integration into production lines. Many options are available such as temperature monitoring or the control of UV irradiance and time of exposure.

In industrial environments, noise reduction is a growing issue. UWAVE developed the SMART BLADE™ technology to control fan speed in real time based on data provided by the UV LED source and thus minimize the noise. By optimizing its own temperature control, UBAR™ sources are guaranteed to be both stable and durable.

The UBAR™ LED has a much higher output power stability than other technologies and does not emit infrared radiation, thus heat-sensitive materials can be processed. UV LEDs are eco-friendly as they do not create ozone, do not contain mercury and only need a few watts to operate.

Temperature +155 °C; Stability ±2 °C; Horizontal Curing 0°, +15°, -15°; Step-Cure Capability Connected Fibers’ patented 1Cure is the industry’s first intelligent expoxy curing oven for both horizontal and vertical curing applications. The 1Cure oven features both soak and ramp temperature profile curing capability, a 4” full-color LCD touchscreen as well as network connectivity with remote programmability and access The system stores up to 999 programs. The temperature of the actual connector fixture is monitored and controlled rather than the traditional method of monitoring the hot plate. This eliminates the temperature error created by the thermal offset between these two surfaces in a typical curing oven. 1Cure is also available with an optional advanced cooling system for reducing cycle times between ramp (step) cure profiles. The ramp cure technology eliminates fiber cracking especially on larger core fibers by utilizing ramp and soak cycles. This significant advancement is useful for large-core and multi-fiber applications. It also allows to standardize on one epoxy for various applications by customizing time and temperature profiles. The oven features a horizontal curing base with a removable 24 position fixture for MT (MPO) and a convertible lid providing cable access to a block to accommodate up to 96 single fiber termini (72 for the 1Cure-200) to cure in a vertical position. The internal 15° tilt mechanism for the horizontal cure will allow for 0° or 15° curing angle to prevent fibers from retreating during bare, buffered or ribbon fiber applications. This yields precise removal of material stock and continual component advancement. The enhanced microfeed is ideal for larger optical surfaces, delicate bare fibers, and connector air polishing. V2 also provides the ability to create "pop-up" window prompts in between each polishing step, very useful as reminder to technicians to clean fibers, inspect polishing lengths, confirm geometry, etc. before initiating the next process step. New folder management allows programs to be organized according to connector types, fiber diameters, component, etc. Bare Fiber Coning and Chisel Option The optional Orbit™ bare fiber coning and chisel system enhances NOVA™'s bare fiber processing with conical and chisel tip shaping. Unique fiber tip geometries can be formed for lensing, sensing and light guiding applications. The fiber rotation module can be mounted on standard NOVA™ variable angle and waveguide workholders. Fiber "spin" speed is user adjustable and can be set for continual rotation or the unique "360 auto-reverse" motion that prevent fiber twisting and torquing. All variables are entered and selected via a touchscreen on the Orbit™ controller. When combined with NOVA™ Auto-Angle Workholders, Orbit™ precisely positions the polishing fixture at the designed angle on a repeatable basis. Inspection Options Optional video inspection systems monitor the polishing process and inspect the polished surface directly in NOVA™.  NOVA™'s Profile Videoscope allows the real-time monitoring of component polishing. This videoscope aids with bare fiber/component positioning and confirms process completion. Teamed with measurement software, this system verifies the endface geometry of a broad range of photonics components. Teamed with measurement software, this system verifies the endface geometry of fibers, waveguides and arrays. NOVA™'s Surface Videoscope allows the in-line inspection of polished surfaces while the component is still loaded in the polisher. This minimizes material handling and streamlines photonic production compared to the traditional process of transferring components to off-line inspection stations. Polishing and specification compliance can be determined in a single workcell.
