SLA-Series Manual & Analog-input LED Controllers

Product information "SLA-Series Manual & Analog-input LED Controllers"

2 Channels; 9-24 VDC; 100-1,200 mA Per Channel; Interface 0-5 V Analog; Max. Modulation Frequency 1, 50 kHz

Mightex’s SLA-Series of two-channel universal manual and analog-input LED controllers are designed to drive a broad range of LED light sources.

SLA-Series LED controllers have two control modes:

  • Manual Knob Control Mode: the current output of each channel can be adjusted manually
  • Analog Input Control Mode: the current output of each channel can be controlled via 0 to 5 V analog input

The control mode is set via a DIP switch, and the factory default setting is “Manual Knob Control Mode”. The controllers also have a DIP switch for maximum current setting, which allows user to set the maximum current to different levels, in order to prevent LED damage due to overdriving. The factory default setting is 30 mA for SLA-0100-2, and 350 mA for both SLA-1000-2 and SLA-1200-2. When the maximum current setting DIP switch is set at a smaller value (e.g. 350 mA), the LED controller has a finer resolution for the output current.

When the SLA-Series controller is set to “Analog Input Control Mode”, the output current is proportional to the voltage of the analog input signal. The operational mode and the current limit of each channel can be set independently from each other.

Mightex’s SLA-Series of universal manual and analog-input LED controllers currently include three models in total:

Models with forward voltage monitoring capability have an accuracy of ±10 mV. Mightex’s SLC-Series of USB/RS232 and external trigger LED controllers can be used to drive any type of LED in any of the three modes ‘Normal’ (or ‘Constant Current’), ‘Strobe’, and/or external ‘Trigger’. Each output channel can be individually configured to work in one of the three modes, and in all three modes, overdrive current limit can be set:Normal: Constant current output at any value from 0 mA to the maximum output driving current with 12-bit resolutionTrigger: External trigger signal could be used to turn on each individual channel, generating driving current with any user-defined waveform. Alternatively, each output channel can work under the “Follower” mode, in which the current output follows the waveform of the trigger inputStrobe: Internal strobe generator generates frequencies as high as 25 KHz. The strobe signal (i.e. current levels, duty cycle and strobe frequency) can be set through software. For SLC-AA and SLC-AV series, the strobe signal can be a user-defined arbitrary waveform with 128 pairs of data points [current (mA), duration (µs)] to define the shape of the waveform and consequently the LED’s optical output. High-precision (FA, FV, XA and XV) types have 0.1mA current resolution, and a maximum current of 100mA in DC mode and 350mA in pulse mode, while 2-channel high-current (HA and HV) types can drive up to 2,000 mA (CW) or 3,500 mA (PWM) output current. SLC/MU USB & Manual LED Controllers
4 Channels; 12-24 VDC; 1,200 mA Per Channel; Interface USB; Current Resolution 1, 5 mA Mightex’s SLC/MU-Series of four-channel universal USB and manual LED controllers are designed to drive a broad range of LED light sources, and they offer the flexibility for users to operate each LED channel independently, both manually and through software. In addition, the LEDs can be driven both in Continuous Wave (CW) mode and in strobe mode. While the standard model (SLC-CA04-MU) provides 5 mA current resolution, a high-precision variant (SLC-MA04-MU) with 1 mA current resolution is also available. The software comes with a user-friendly GUI that enables one to drive LEDs without the need to write any code. Furthermore, a full-featured SDK is provided in order for users to write their own software and to integrate the LED controllers into their own systems. Manual Control: Each of the four channels can be operated manually in CW mode using a knob, and each knob is operated independently to control the output current of a specific channel. The LED controller also has a fifth knob (i.e. a “Global” knob) allowing to adjust the output current of all the channels at the same time and with the same step size. Therefore, first the intensities for the LED channels can be set – independently – using the four (small) knobs, and then the set intensities of all channels can be increased/decreased simultaneously using the “Global” knob.In order to prevent LED damage due to ‘overdriving/overheating’, the maximum output current of each LED channel can be set individually, via the software provided with the LED controller, to match the current rating of the LED connected to the channel. Software Control: SLC/MU-Series LED controllers can also be operated via a Windows-based application software, provided with the device. In software control mode, each channel can be individually configured by the software to operate in one of the following three modes: Disable Mode: The channel is disabled, and its output is completely turned off Normal Mode (or CW Mode): The output current is constant and can be adjusted (using software) from 0 to 1,200 mA through the USB interface Strobe Mode: A Pulse-Width-Modulated (or PWM) periodic strobe pattern is output from the channel, which can be activated by a software trigger. The strobe pattern may last indefinitely or for a preset number of cycles, depending on the software setting. The maximum frequency of the PWM strobe is 500 Hz. The LED controller also has a DC output used to control a cooling fan, usually used to cool down a high-power LED. The LED controller’s software allows one to control the speed of the cooling fan, through a designated variable PWM signal output.
