FF Fixed Filters
Pigtail or Removable Style; 400 to 2100 nm; Line Width 0.3 nm; Insertion Loss 0.6 dB; Fiber Type SM, MM, PM; Connector Type FC/PC, ST, SC, LC, MU, None OZ Optics’ FF series of fixed filters transmit or block specific wavelengths of light as they travel through the optical fiber. Light from the input fiber is first collimated and passed through the filter. The beam is then focused into the output fiber. Filter linewidths are normally defined in terms of full width at half maximum (FWHM). The standard filters used have a smooth, rounded transmission spectrum that is the result of a single Fabry Perot type cavity, simply made up of two reflectors separated by a fixed spacer of some thickness. Other filter designs are available. For instance, flat top bandpass filters are made by stacking multiple cavities together. By increasing the number of cavities one can increase the roll-off slope therefore improving the out-of-band rejection level. Please contact AMS Technologies for custom filter designs that meet your requirements. Fixed filters using single mode (SM), multi mode (MM) or polarization maintaining (PM) fibers are offered. In general, OZ Optics uses polarization maintaining fibers based on the PANDA fiber structure when building polarization maintaining components and patch cords. However, OZ Optics can construct devices using other PM fiber structures. OZ Optics also carries some alternative fiber types in stock, please contact AMS Technologies for availability. If necessary, OZ Optics is willing to use customer supplied fibers to build devices. For tunable filters refer to OZ Optics’ TF-100 series of digital tunable filters, TF-100-11 series of motor driven tunable filters, TF-11 series of manually adjustable polarization insensitive tunable filters, BTF-11 series of manually adjustable variable bandwidth tunable filters or BTF-100 series of motorized adjustable variable bandwidth tunable filters. Key Features: Narrow Line Widths Rugged and Compact Size Removable Filter Holder Designs Wide Wavelength Range Single Mode (SM), Multi Mode (MM) and Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber Versions Expanded Beam Technology Applications: Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing; CATV, LAN and Telecommunications Use; Test and Measurement

OPM Directional Fiber Optic Power Monitors
320 to 2100 nm; Tap Ratio 0.5 to 4%; Insertion Loss <0.05 to 0.3 dB; Return Loss >70 dB; Fiber Type SM, MM, PM, PC, Other; Power Handling 250 to 2000 mW With the OPM series, OZ Optics offers inline optical power monitors and tap couplers based on a revolutionary, patented technology. These taps and monitors provide a way to easily measure the signal intensity through an optical fiber in a simple, miniature package and are ideal for real time monitoring and feedback for optical amplifiers or WDM systems as well as for fiber optic sensors. Traditional monitoring systems typically use fused couplers to tap a fixed amount of light into another fiber that guides the optical power to a photodiode. This method is bulky and must be done using discrete components. In contrast, OZ Optics' OPM series of optical taps direct a controlled amount of light from the fiber core to the cladding surface where it can be directly monitored with high efficiency and very low loss. This inline tapping is accomplished without bending, shaping, or otherwise distorting the fiber. As a result, the tap can be directly incorporated into optical assemblies, without affecting the original functionality. While taps are directional in nature (ideal for monitoring traffic independently of signals travelling back through a network link), bi-directional versions are also available and can be provided on request. OPM taps can be fabricated into standard single mode (SM), polarization maintaining (PM), multi mode (MM), photonic crystal (PC) and other specialty fibers, for any design wavelength and with different tap ratios available upon request. OPM optical power monitors combine the optical tap design with a photodiode in an integrated package and are available in different configurations with Si and InGaAs detectors for different wavelength ranges. The devices produce a current proportional to the optical power within the fiber, and the small size and simple interface makes it very easy to design into optical hardware. Multiple channel power monitors for WDM applications are available upon request.
