OZ Optics provides a variety of ferrules to terminate your own fibers. These ferrules are available in a range of outer diameters, hole sizes, lengths, and materials – making them usable for many different applications. The different materials are useful for different applications, such as the following: Zirconia – known for precise tolerances; widely used for single mode (SM) and polarization maintaining (PM) fiber terminations Stainless steel – low cost, useful for large core multimode fiber terminations Borosilicate glass (Pyrex) – transparent to UV light, can be used with UV cured epoxies Kovar – expands and contracts at the same rate as glass; useful when parts are subjected to large temperature swings Beryllium copper – excellent thermal conductivity for high-power applications Nickel – good thermal conductivity and precise tolerances; good for high-power applications where alignment is critical OZ Optics’ ferrules are available in too many different varieties to list in a data sheet.
