Chromacity has developed a range of tunable laser sources which span the short to long IR wavelength regions.


The Chromacity Auskerry (formerly the Near-IR OPO) is Chromacity’s flagship tunable optical parametric oscillator (OPO) which generates light across 1.4 µm – 4.2 µm (7150 cm-1– 2400 cm-1). The Chromacity Auskerry tunable laser source can be integrated into an FTIR spectrometer, providing the ability to interrogate multiple chemical signatures in real time (at a high resolution). It has a broad bandwidth across the 3µm-3.5µm to quantify gases such as of methane, ethane and benzene in a single measurement with resolutions of 0.05cm-1. The high powers of the Chromacity Auskerry have demonstrated open-path stand-off detection measurements beyond 100m.

The Chromacity Haskeir (formerly the Mid-IR OPO) is powered by a new generation of non-linear crystals which generate broad bandwidth coherent light across the long wavelength regions between 4.5 µm and 12 µm (2200 cm-1 to 850 cm-1). Spectroscopy across the fingerprint regime provides that ability to characterize volatile organic compounds with complex chemical signatures, and the high brightness of the Chromacity Haskeir OPO across 4.5 to 12µm can be used in a number of these set-ups. It can also be used to characterize and differentiate between compounds, such as VX and Sarin, as well as pharmaceutical powders such as aspirin and ibuprofen.

Both picosecond OPOs deliver high power, broad band coherent light and are optically pumped by Chromacity’s high-power Chromacity 1040 femtosecond laser, which is fully integrated into the optical head to maximize stability and reduce the overall system footprint. Fiber delivery capability reinforces the inherent stability of Chromacity’s OPO systems and seamless OEM integration for industrial applications.
