Fin Heat Exchangers available from Stock
AMS Technologies’ portfolio of tube-fin heat exchangers available from stock features copper, stainless-steel or aluminium tubes expanded into copper or aluminium fins, offering cost-effective solutions for good heat removal.
Our copper tube and copper fin heat exchangers with high tube densities provide maximum heat transfer in a compact package. These heat exchangers are delivered with the fan plate included and are available from stock ranging from models for single fans with 360 W heat transfer performance up to versions with quad fan plates, capable of dissipating up to 7600 W.
The fin heat exchangers with heavy-walled, seamless stainless steel tubes expanded into copper fins are ideal for applications where deionized water or corrosive fluids are used and a high-efficiency, compact unit is required. These heat exchangers feature an integrated fan plate and are available from stock suitable for mounting a single fan or two fans, providing heat transfer capabilities ranging from 450 W to 3000 W.
For applications where a slightly lower performance/size ratio is acceptable, AMS Technologies carries stainless steel tube fin heat exchangers with 80% of the above models’ performance at approximately 50% of the cost. These heat exchangers, available from stock with fan plates for single fan or double fan layout and heat transfer performance ranging from 400 W to 2700 W also feature lower air and liquid pressure drops.
AMS Technologies’ OEM coils heat exchangers are best suited for the price-sensitive customer in applications where the appearance of the heat exchanger is not critical, such as when the heat exchanger is hidden inside of the equipment. OEM heat exchangers are available from stock with 370 W to 4600 W heat transfer performance, either with or without the fan plate included.
The flat tube aluminium oil coolers are suitable for poor heat transfer fluids such as oils and Ethylene Glycol/Water mixture (EGW), while providing up to 2.5 times greater thermal performance per unit volume than competitive oil cooler models. Four models are available, with cooling performances ranging from 680 W to 2960 W. These oil coolers can be equipped with one or two axial fans and are ideal for liquid cooling x-ray tubes, aircraft engines, hydraulic fluid, high speed spindles and more.
Product Portfolio
Beyond the wide range of standard products available from stock for various heat load to initial temperature difference ratios, AMS Technologies provides a broad customized condenser and evaporator offering that is based on either a pattern of 7 mm tubes providing reduced volume and weight compared to heat exchangers built with the usual 3/8” pipes, or on a coil pattern with a 5 mm diameter rifled tube – the smallest and most advanced coil on the market today.
Both technologies are compact and lightweight, offer high cooling capacities with high airflow and are well suited for specialized applications where volume and weight can be critical. Requiring less refrigerant, these heat exchangers are a cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice that can be customized to a range of specialized heavy-duty, precision cooling or industrial cooling applications.
If you can’t find a standard product covering your project’s requirements, our thermal experts can specify and design a customized heat exchanger solution tailored specifically to your needs. Our customizable heat exchanger coils are available in virtually any size from 5 x 5 cm to 2 x 5 m. The tube-fin constructions can be equipped with tubes from copper, aluminium or stainless steel in many different tube patterns and tube diameters in 5 mm and 7 mm, but also 3/8” or 1/2. Finned height and length, fin densities, number of rows, number of circuits, fan mount and access valve fittings, among others, are tailored to the customer’s specifications.
Special options available include nano-coating that prevents dust accumulation, a cost-effective aluminium tube construction suitable for ultra clean water or highest-grade stainless steel tubes suitable for sea water, among others. Please contact the AMS Technologies thermal management experts to discuss your customized tube fin heat exchanger solution that exactly matches your requirements.

Definition
Fin heat exchangers consist of tubes carrying fluids of various types that are expanded into numerous thin metal fins situated in the thermal path to provide a large surface area for dissipating the heat of the liquid in the tubes into the surrounding air or other liquid travelling through the heat exchanger’s cross-section.
Tube-fin heat exchangers are cost effective, offer good heat removal and are used in many industries including military and aerospace, medical equipment, lasers, analytical instrumentation, power electronics , semiconductor equipment, machine tools, telecommunications, and more.
Fin heat exchangers are very suitable for dissipating excess heat in liquids to the ambient air or a second cooling circuit. In compressor cooling systems, fin heat exchangers are, alongside the compressor itself, an essential and indispensable element for efficient heat dissipation. Cabinet coolers also usually work with fin heat exchangers to keep the air in the cabinet at the desired temperature.
With copper, stainless steel or aluminium as wetted surfaces, fin heat exchangers are compatible with water, glycol-water, corrosive fluids such as de-ionised water, oil, dielectric fluids and polyalphaolefin.
Copper and stainless-steel tube heat exchangers consist of copper or stainless-steel tubes expanded into copper or aluminium fins. Due to this construction, tube-fin heat exchangers are cost-effective and remove heat reliably out of many applications such as lasers, electronics, compressor cooling, solder reflow machines or in semiconductor manufacturing.
Aluminium heat exchangers with flat tubes are designed to offer excellent performance with poor heat transfer fluids such as Ethylene Glycol/Water solutions (EGW) or oils, but are not compatible with untreated water. For a stable yet lightweight construction, the aluminium flat tube fluid channels in these flat tube oil coolers are vacuum-brazed with aluminium fins and provided with a frame. Such oil coolers are very suitable for liquid cooling of hydraulic oil, high-speed spindles, aircraft engines, X-ray tubes and many other applications.
