Accessories for LED Light Sources

Accessories for Mightex collimated LED light sources comprise dedicated focusing modules and interchangeable collimating lenses, lightguide, microscope and fiber-optic adapters, microscope illumination tubes, connector tubes, a thread converter, empty filter/optics holders, a lightguide holder for converting Type-B LCS into Type-B GCS as well as accessories for beam combiners like a push-pull adjustable mount, a 11 mm LCS adapter or connecting plates. Six different ACC-LCS-F-xx focusing modules for collimated LED light sources are available, comprising modules for 11 to 48 mm clear-aperture collimated LED light sources with working distances from 5 to 100 mm. Eight ACC-LCS-C-xx(-B) additional interchangeable collimating lenses for collimated LED light sources are used to produce different beam sizes with the same LED light source base: Four models with clear apertures of 11, 22, 38 and 48 mm as well as four variants for Type-B light sources. Four different LCS-LGA22-xxx lightguide adapters can be used to couple light from a 22-mm-diameter collimated LED light source into a lightguide. Variants for lightguides with ferrule diameters of 5, 6.35 (1/4”), 7 and 11.1 mm as well as a ferrule length of 15 mm or greater are available. Eight different ACC-BC25-xxx microscope adapters allow to connect LCS collimated LED light sources and beam combiners to microscopes. Single LCS light sources as well as LCS-BC25 beam combiners or WLS sources can be connected to microscopes like Leica DMI, Olympus (IX & BX, other), Zeiss Axioskop, Nikon Eclipse, Eclipse E200 and LV-UEPI/2/A. A LCS-FPC-ADP-SMA fiber-optic adapter can be used to couple light from a LCS-Series collimated LED light source (22-mm aperture) into a fiber patchcord and accepts SMA connectorized fiber patchcords. Three different ACC-BC25-MIT-xxx microscope illumination tubes allow to couple a beam combiner or LCS-Series collimated LED light source into the infinity optical path of microscopes. The lengths of these microsope illumination tubes are designed for one beam-combiner distance (up to two LCS sources) or two beam-combiner distances (up to four LCS sources). Three different ACC-LCS-xxx connector tubes for LCS-Series collimated LED light sources are available, comprising a male-to-male C-mount connector with inner threads, a female-to-female C-mount connector with outer threads and a 15 mm extension tube for 22 mm clear-aperture LCS-Series light sources. For details, please refer to the downloadable “Accessories for Collimated LED Light Sources Overview” An ACC-LCS-27C adapter is available for converting M27 thread to C-thread. Two different empty filter/optics holders for 22 mm clear-aperture collimated LED light sources are available (ACC-LCS-H-22, ACC-LCS-EH). Both are excitation filter holders for 25.4 mm (1”) diameter filters with up to 5 mm thickness, with ACC-LCS-EH featuring a threaded output end to connect to Mightex LCS-LGA22-xxx lightguide adapters or ACC-BC25-xxx microscope adapters. Mightex’s GCS-LGH-B-0515 lightguide holder is used to replace the collimating lens on a Type-B LCS in order to convert it to a Type-B GCS. This holder is suitable for lightguides with a ferrule diameter of 5 mm (typical 3-mm-core lightguides) and a ferrule length of 15 mm or greater. Mightex’s ACC-LCS-BC25-PPM push-pull mount for multi-wavelength beam combiners is user-adjustable. Currently, Mightex’s multi-wavelength beam combiners can only be used to directly combine 22-mm-diameter collimated LED light sources. For 11-mm-diameter collimated LED light sources, an ACC-BC25-011 mechanical adapter can be used to attach the LED sources to the beam combiners, before the 11-mm-diameter collimated LED sources can be combined. Three different ACC-BC25-CP-01/02/03 connecting plates are available to connect two or more multi-wavelength beam combiners together, with four screws included. Accessories for Mightex’s GCS-Series of lightguide-coupled LED light sources comprise an electrical cable (product number ACC-GCS-C05), a heatsink for 3 mm core liquid lightguides (product number ACC-LLG-HS-03), a range of liquid lightguides and lightguide adapters as well as lightguide collimators. Nine different LLG liquid lightguides are available in three wavelength ranges (300 to 650 nm, 340 to 800 nm and 420 to 2000 nm), with 3 or 5 mm core for 5 or 7 mm ferrule diameters respectively, a numerical aperture (NA) of 0.59 and lengths of 1 or 2 m. Four different lightguide adapters for Type-A GCS-Series lightguide-coupled LED light sources are available. Each Type-A GCS device comes with a standard lightguide adapter for 5 mm diameter ferrule (A0510). Other adapters (as well as additional standard adapters) can be purchased separately, for lightguides with ferrule diameters of 5, 6, 7 or 8 mm and ferrule lengths of 10 mm or greater. Four different lightguide adapters for Type-B GCS-Series lightguide-coupled LED light sources are available, for lightguides with ferrule diameters of 5, 7, 8 or 10 mm and ferrule lengths of 15 mm or greater. Four different lightguide collimators are used to either couple light from free space into a lightguide or collimate light from a lightguide to form a collimated (parallel) optical beam. Lightguide collimators are key components with numerous applications. For example, a lightguide collimator can project light from a lightguide into a uniform spot in free space.High-numerical-aperture aspherical lenses are used for precise collimation and maximum light throughput. The collimators feature adjustable focus from ~100 mm to infinity. Various lightguide ferrule diameters are supported. Customization is available for other ferrule diameters. Deep UV; 265-340 nm; 2.03-3.6 W; Iop 350-600 mA; Vop 4.3-6.3 V; Typ. Output Power 15-35 mW Mightex’s deep UV LCS-Series of collimated LED light sources cover the wavelength range between 240 nm and 340 nm and employ a high-NA (numerical aperture) aspherical collimating lens for precision collimation and high light throughput. A LED collimator consists of a collimating lens and a LED emitter. The LED emitter is placed at the focal plane of the collimating lens. The collimating lens thus images the LED emitter into infinity. LED collimators can be used as the light source in an illumination system. For example, LED collimators can replace the standard lamp assembly in a microscope to provide stable, intense, and fast-modulated illumination. Typically, the rest of the illumination optics will image the LED emitter onto the pupil of the imaging optics whereas the lens aperture on the collimator where intensity is uniform will be projected onto the object. In other illumination applications, similar arrangement should be made to produce uniform and efficient illumination. The LED emitters of the deep UV LCS-Series collimated LED light sources are mounted directly onto the metal base of the collimator which also features an integrated heat sink. This configuration minimizes thermal resistance between the LED emitter and the heat sink resulting in better heat dissipation. The collimating lens can be adjusted if needed for precise collimation. A locking ring fixes the lens position after adjustment. The collimators have been pre-adjusted in the factory. The LED collimators include a 1.5-meter cable with two bare-wire terminals at the end for universal LED controllers. The light sources can be driven by Mightex LED controllers or other LED controllers and current sources. WARNING: Due to low current ratings, certain Type-D deep UV LCS-Series collimated LEDs should only be controlled using the LED controllers SLA-0100-2 or SLC-FAxxIn addition to using the correct LED controllers listed above, an appropriate current range must be set according to the LED’s current rating, in order to properly protect the highly delicate deep UV LED. LED damage due to over-driving is not covered by Mightex’s product warranty. Output Power 30-1,500 mW Mightex’s high-power LCS-Series of collimated LED light sources employ a high-NA (numerical aperture) aspherical collimating lens for precision collimation and high light throughput. Four mechanically differing sub-series with clear apertures of 11, 22, 38 and 48 mm are available. A LED collimator consists of a collimating lens and a LED emitter. The LED emitter is placed at the focal plane of the collimating lens. The collimating lens thus images the LED emitter into infinity. LED collimators can be used as the light source in an illumination system. For example, LED collimators can replace the standard lamp assembly in a microscope to provide stable, intense, and fast-modulated illumination. Typically, the rest of the illumination optics will image the LED emitter onto the pupil of the imaging optics whereas the lens aperture on the collimator where intensity is uniform will be projected onto the object. In other illumination applications, similar arrangement should be made to produce uniform and efficient illumination. The LED emitters of the high-power LCS-Series collimated LED light sources are mounted directly onto the metal base of the collimator which also features an integrated heat sink. This configuration minimizes thermal resistance between the LED emitter and the heat sink resulting in better heat dissipation. The collimating lens can be adjusted if needed for precise collimation. A locking ring fixes the lens position after adjustment. The collimators have been pre-adjusted in the factory. Multi-chip LED emitters (i.e. Type-B) have been added to the high-power LCS-Series product portfolio.
