Mightex’s WFC-Series of multi-wavelength fiber-coupled LED light sources are enabled by the latest LED technologies, and Mightex’s proprietary beam combining and coupling optics. Up to eight LEDs are coherently combined into a single multi mode fiber with the highest efficiency practically possible. Each LED can be powered individually or simultaneously to produce a tuneable spectrum.

The WFC-Series LED light sources are offered in two configurations – standard and high-power. Neutral beam combiners are used in the standard configuration. The standard configuration has the advantage of low cost and the most flexible wavelength plans. Any wavelength and white colour may be combined in the standard configuration.

For applications that require the highest possible output power, however, one should choose the high-power configuration where high-efficiency dichroic beamsplitters are used to combine different wavelengths. Because not all possible dichroic beamsplitters are in stock, some wavelength combinations may require customization. A wide range of LED wavelengths from 365 to 980 nm and white colours are available for users to choose from. The selected LEDs are installed in the light source chassis in the factory. Fiber coupling is through a standard SMA port, and hence customers may use different fibers with the LED light source according to the specific requirements of their applications. SMA-connectorized fiber patchcords are available in various core diameters and numerical apertures.

A 4-channel light source includes a 5-ft electrical cable, and an 8-channel source includes two such cables. Each cable has an 8-pin locking connector on one end to be plugged into the light source, and four pairs of bare-wire terminals at the other end. Each pair of terminals should be connected to a separate channel of a LED controller.

Users can drive the installed LEDs individually or simultaneously using a Mightex multi-channel LED controller or other constant current sources. A cooling fan with heat sinks is built into the light source. When two or more wavelengths are running at full power, the fan should be turned on to maintain low temperature of the LED junctions, in order to prevent LED damage due to over-heating. A separate power supply is included for driving the cooling fan.

Mightex 4-channel multi-wavelength light source can be ordered with 2 and 4 wavelengths, and the 8-channel source can be ordered with 6 and 8 wavelengths. In the standard configuration (which is NOT supported by the 8-channel source due to low efficiency), output power of each wavelength decreases with the total number of wavelengths, while in the high-power configuration the output power does not change much with number of wavelengths.

NBA 108 Blocking Adhesive 10g syringe
Refractive Index 1.51; 550 cps Viscosity at 25°C  NBA 108 (10g syringe) is a single component, UV curing adhesive used for temporary bonding of lenses to metal polishing mounts. This blocking adhesive is formulated to be used with polishing processes that use large amounts of liquid or use heavy grinding. The adhesive cures in minutes at room temperature by exposure to long wave UV light and eliminates the heat induced strain typical of the old fashioned hot pitch blocking methods. NBA 108 is specifically formulated to provide low shrinkage and low strain to further minimize any potential strain on the lens during the blocking process. Debonding is accomplished by soaking in acetone.The adhesive cures only by exposure to UV light in the range of 350 to 380 nanometers. The adhesive needs 5 joules per centimeter squared of long wave UV energy to fully cure. Prolonged skin contact should be avoided and affected areas should be washed with soap and water. Avoid prolonged vapor inhalation and use in a well ventilated area.

SLA-Series Manual & Analog-input LED Controllers

Modulation Frequency 1, 50 kHz Mightex’s SLA-Series of two-channel universal manual and analog-input LED controllers are designed to drive a broad range of LED light sources. SLA-Series LED controllers have two control modes: Manual Knob Control Mode: the current output of each channel can be adjusted manually Analog Input Control Mode: the current output of each channel can be controlled via 0 to 5 V analog input The control mode is set via a DIP switch, and the factory default setting is “Manual Knob Control Mode”. The controllers also have a DIP switch for maximum current setting, which allows user to set the maximum current to different levels, in order to prevent LED damage due to overdriving. The factory default setting is 30 mA for SLA-0100-2, and 350 mA for both SLA-1000-2 and SLA-1200-2. When the maximum current setting DIP switch is set at a smaller value (e.g. 350 mA), the LED controller has a finer resolution for the output current.
