Mightex’s GCS-Series of high-power lightguide-coupled LED light sources are designed for high-efficiency coupling of LED light into a liquid lightguide (LLG) or a fiber optic bundle. Virtually all lightguides with core diameters ranging from 3 to 8 mm can be used with the GCS-Series light sources. Please note that lightguides and adapters as well as lightguide collimators are sold separately.

GCS-Series lightguide-coupled LED light sources also feature a locking electrical connector for secured connection. The devices are designed as a universal light source for general lab use and OEM applications. Their one-piece machined aluminium alloy housing features integrated heatsinks and multiple mounting holes.

Multi-chip LED emitters have been added to the product portfolio (Type-B). Some of these 7 to 15 W LEDs have a total optical power exceeding 1 W, quadrupling the power of a single-chip LED (Type-A). Models with higher powers (i.e. Type-B with 7 W and higher) feature a cooling fan and have a different form factor compared to other models. Please examine the installation drawings in the downloadable datasheet carefully. Power supply for the cooling fan is included in the price of the LED light sources.

All Mightex LED controllers such as software-controlled LED controllers like the SLC-Series , manual LED controllers like the SLA-Series or other LED drivers and current sources can be used to drive the GCS-Series light sources.

Accessories for Collimated LED Light Sources
Accessories for Mightex collimated LED light sources comprise dedicated focusing modules and interchangeable collimating lenses, lightguide, microscope and fiber-optic adapters, microscope illumination tubes, connector tubes, a thread converter, empty filter/optics holders, a lightguide holder for converting Type-B LCS into Type-B GCS as well as accessories for beam combiners like a push-pull adjustable mount, a 11 mm LCS adapter or connecting plates. Six different ACC-LCS-F-xx focusing modules for collimated LED light sources are available, comprising modules for 11 to 48 mm clear-aperture collimated LED light sources with working distances from 5 to 100 mm. Eight ACC-LCS-C-xx(-B) additional interchangeable collimating lenses for collimated LED light sources are used to produce different beam sizes with the same LED light source base: Four models with clear apertures of 11, 22, 38 and 48 mm as well as four variants for Type-B light sources. Four different LCS-LGA22-xxx lightguide adapters can be used to couple light from a 22-mm-diameter collimated LED light source into a lightguide. Variants for lightguides with ferrule diameters of 5, 6.35 (1/4”), 7 and 11.1 mm as well as a ferrule length of 15 mm or greater are available. Eight different ACC-BC25-xxx microscope adapters allow to connect LCS collimated LED light sources and beam combiners to microscopes. A LCS-FPC-ADP-SMA fiber-optic adapter can be used to couple light from a LCS-Series collimated LED light source (22-mm aperture) into a fiber patchcord and accepts SMA connectorized fiber patchcords. Three different ACC-BC25-MIT-xxx microscope illumination tubes allow to couple a beam combiner or LCS-Series collimated LED light source into the infinity optical path of microscopes. The lengths of these microsope illumination tubes are designed for one beam-combiner distance (up to two LCS sources) or two beam-combiner distances (up to four LCS sources). Three different ACC-LCS-xxx connector tubes for LCS-Series collimated LED light sources are available, comprising a male-to-male C-mount connector with inner threads, a female-to-female C-mount connector with outer threads and a 15 mm extension tube for 22 mm clear-aperture LCS-Series light sources. Two different empty filter/optics holders for 22 mm clear-aperture collimated LED light sources are available (ACC-LCS-H-22, ACC-LCS-EH). Both are excitation filter holders for 25.4 mm (1”) diameter filters with up to 5 mm thickness, with ACC-LCS-EH featuring a threaded output end to connect to Mightex LCS-LGA22-xxx lightguide adapters or ACC-BC25-xxx microscope adapters. Mightex’s GCS-LGH-B-0515 lightguide holder is used to replace the collimating lens on a Type-B LCS in order to convert it to a Type-B GCS. Mightex’s ACC-LCS-BC25-PPM push-pull mount for multi-wavelength beam combiners is user-adjustable. LDT Series 1300 nm Edge-emitting LEDs
1300 nm; Spectral Width 80 nm; Optical Power 4-250 µW; Optical Rise/Fall Time 4 ns; Package 14-pin DIL, TO56 OSI LaserDiode‘s LDT Series of 1300 nm edge-emitting LEDs (light-emitting diodes) feature stable power and spectral characteristics over temperature. These LEDs are typically used in data or analog transmission systems where the launch power requirements are too great for an SLED component and where a laser is not suitable. LDT Series LEDs are available with 14-pin DIL package and single mode (SM) or multi mode (MM) fiber pigtail as well as with TO53 package sealed by a window or aspheric lens cap. Versions with the LDT Series 1300 nm edge-emitting LED in a hermetic, stable, RoHS compliant 14-pin dual-in-line package (DIP) feature the MOCVD-grown InGaAsP devices aligned to either a single mode (SM) or multi mode (MM) optical fiber. Two versions of the 14-pin DIP package are offered: The standard package with a long-horn flange (cooler package) is configured either with or without a thermistor and a Peltier-effect thermoelectric cooler (TEC). A second uncooled, low-profile package without a flange is also available for applications where space is limited and temperature control is not required. In addition to the 14-pin DIL versions, three models are available in a 3-pin, RoHS compliant TO 56 package. Sealed by a window cap, the LDT 125-TO56WR device features a minimum optical output power of 125 µW, while the LDT 300-TO56WR device emits a minimum optical power of 250 µW. The LDT 125-TO56LR device is packaged in a 3-pin TO56 with aspheric lens cap and emits a minimum optical output power of 60 µW into a 62.5 µm fiber.
