ST/PC; Ferrule Outer Diameter 2.5 mm; Bore Tolerance 0/+4 µm; Crimp 1.6, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 mm ST (Straight Tip) fiber optic cable connectors use a spring-loaded bayonet-style plug and socket. Within ST connectors, the fiber is inserted in a relatively long, cylindrical and floating ferrule with 2.5 mm diameter, providing good mechanical isolation of the contact.   A mechanical key prevents fiber rotation when the plug is attached to the receptacle. While the connector is preferably used for multi mode fibers it can also connect single mode fibers.  Optoplast’s ST crimp type connector kits are suitable for application with single mode and multi mode optical fibers. Crimp is available for 1.6, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm fiber optic cable, while ST connector kits for Ø 900 μm buffer don’t provide a crimp option.  Optoplast ST connector kits are supplied as standard in two configurations – multi mode (black boot) and single mode PC (yellow boot). ST/APC connector kits are also available on request. For each of the different cable diameters, users can choose from a different selection of the additional boot colours white, blue, red, beige and green (see datasheet). Other boot colours are available on request.   90° boots (black) are available in 2 and 3 mm as accessory, suitable for 1.6 to 3 mm fiber optic cable. Further accessories include a dust cap with latch for dust protection. Each separate component of the ST crimp type connector kits is packed as standard in transparent plastic bags of 500 pieces. Sleeve through adapters are used to mate two male fiber connectors together. The flange on the receptacle enables the user to mount the adapter onto a housing or box. HPLC bulkhead receptacles allow to attach fiber optic patch cords to an opening, in order to project light into free space where it can be used by other optical devices, such as lenses and detectors. These receptacles feature precision zirconia sleeves to center the fiber as well as a stop to ensure the fiber tip stops at a precise point in space. Within the HPLC series, OZ Optics also provides bulkhead receptacles without stoppers for pigtailed adjustable FC or SMA connectors as well as angled receptacles specifically designed for correcting the refraction from angle-polished connectors.
