The acousto-optic frequency shifters (AOFS) from Gooch & Housego (G&H) are optimized for the needs of applications like interferometry, with the ability to achieve high extinction ratio between modes.The product line includes standard products with frequency shifts of over 300 MHz and integrated low-power AOFS modules in which the RF driver has been built into the housing. Frequency shifters for specific application, including frequency shifts up to 600 MHz, can be customized on request. The frequency shifters are manufactured using high quality tellurium dioxide (TeO2), grown and polished in-house, for lowest insertion loss and excellent power handling. Standard AOFS products are offered for wavelengths in the visible and NIR for use with fundamental and doubled Argon Ion, Nd:YAG, He:Ne, diode, dye, and Ti:Sapphire lasers. With standard frequency shifts of over 300 MHz and custom frequency shifts up to 600 MHz, as well as models for double-pass configurations, the frequency shifters match most research and industrial needs. Frequency shifters are highly efficient acousto-optic devices, requiring very low drive power to achieve the desired frequency shift. G&H’s AOFS designs typically use the slow shear mode, resulting in slow rise time, but requiring minimal power consumption (typically < 100 mW power draw). This allows to often package the driver with the AOFS for a compact and power-efficient solution. Type IR; Wavelength 700-1100 nm; Operating Frequency 38-80 MHz; Active Aperture 2-3 mm; Window Type Brewster, AR coated; Optical Material Fused Silica; Acousto-optic mode lockers (AOML) modulate the loss within a laser cavity at its resonant frequency, effectively “locking” the phase of the longitudinal modes to generate very narrow laser pulses of high intensity. Gooch & Housego’s mode lockers for Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, Ti:Sapphire and Argon Ion lasers can modulate at up to 200 MHz, yielding near-theoretical mode locked laser pulse widths. Antireflection (AR) coated and Brewster angle options are available. Customized one-off mode lockers can be designed for demanding scientific and OEM applications.The acousto-optic mode lockers from Gooch & Housego are manufactured using high quality fused silica, polished and fabricated in-house to ensure high quality and reliability. >99% transmission at 1064 nm is achieved by using a durable in-house antireflection V-coat. Low scatter and tight quality controls ensure that every mode locker is capable of handling high peak laser power over the long term without damage. The standard mode lockers include operating frequencies from 38 MHz to 80 MHz. The more modes are locked together in phase, the shorter the pulse. G&H’s standing wave mode lockers can obtain near theoretical mode locked laser pulse widths, with industry-leading transmission performance. The high-Q mode lockers can be used for Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, Ti:Sapphire and Argon ion lasers at near infrared wavelengths to achieve picosecond and femtosecond length pulses at repetition rates of up to 200 MHz. The short pulses generated are often used in applications like nonlinear optics, optical data storage, femtosecond micromachining and multiphoton microscopy. High repetition rates are often desired for scientific applications, including those using optical heterodyne detection for spectroscopy, LIDAR or telecommunications. The AO multi-channel modulators manufactured by Gooch & Housego (G&H) feature reliable operation and high performance with minimized crosstalk thanks to proprietary optical and electrical designs to allow concurrent operation of up to 48 channels for modulation, and up to 8 channels for beam deflection. Multi-channel modulators are most often used for high speed applications like micromachining and direct-write lithography, as each beam can be modulated independently. They are also used to increase throughput when writing large media by writing multiple beams at the same time. A typical multi-channel modulator has parallel beams as input, each operated on by a different transducer to modulate its intensity.
