New Infrared Technologies (NIT) is a company located in Madrid (Spain), which develops and commercializes industrial solutions for real-time process monitoring and smart control of laser-based industrial processes. These solutions are based on self-produced infrared cameras, manufactured with a unique technology and sensitive in the medium wavelength infrared (MWIR, 1-5 µm), featuring high-speed capabilities and uncooled operation. NIT’s solution portfolio comprises high-speed imaging MWIR cameras with 1K and 16K resolution as well as line array MWIR cameras and single-pixel PbSe detectors.

New Infrared Technologies’ (NIT) LEPTON Series of single-pixel VPD PbSe MWIR detectors are available uncooled as well as with integrated TECs (thermoelectric cooling elements), with different geometries, packaging solutions and preamplifier boards. LEPTON Series single-pixel detectors come in two standard sizes: 1 mm × 1 mm or 2 mm × 2 mm.
LEPTON Series uncooled single-pixel PbSe MWIR detectors can be ordered packaged in SMD or TO-5 housings (with cap, hermetic) with sapphire window. These detectors are operational at room temperature and don’t require any cooling devices.
LEPTON Series cooled single-pixel PbSe MWIR detectors are hermetically packaged in a TO-8 can housing with cap and sapphire window and include one or two thermoelectric cooler (TEC) stages for higher sensitivity as well as a thermistor. A calibration curve for the thermistor is available.
NIT’s LEPTON Series also includes two low-noise preamplifier boards that are 5-V-powered via mini-USB connector: The LEPTON ANALOG PREAMP provides rotary switches to manually select the detector biasing voltage (4 steps from 1.25 V to 10 V) as well as the transimpedance gain (4 steps from 104 to 107 V/A). This preamp outputs a ±10 V analog voltage on a BNC connector. The LEPTON PREAMP WITH USB OUTPUT allows to digitally select the values for detector biasing voltage and transimpedance gain via software. Here, the output is a digital 14 Bit signal with a maximum sampling rate of 20 ksps. This preamp also features an analog output for the preamplifier stage on SMB or BNC connector.

New Infrared Technologies’ (NIT) LUXELL Series of line array MWIR (midwave infrared) cameras provide line rates of up to 300 lps (lines per second) at 1×256 pixels resolution – in uncooled operation.
The LUXELL CAMERA-S with IP67-rated housing is the plug-and-play industrial version featuring a USB 2.0 interface and industrial connector. The lens, with f/35 mm and CS-mount optical interface, is IP67-rated as well. The camera includes the LUXELL software suite and a development kit for LabVIEW. This ready-to-use system is well suited for the development of affordable solutions and integration in the customer’s production line.
The LUXELL CAMERA-S is based on the linear scanning array LUXELL CORE-S, an electronic module based on a microcontroller architecture, which includes the linear, 1x256 pixels LUXELL FPA (Focal Plane Array), 2-channel readout electronics (300 lines per second max), USB 2.0 output, and a powerful software suite and SDK for LabVIEW.
Though not housed in an industrial case, the LUXELL CORE-S module also is functionally plug and play, ready to read the FPA signal and ideal for the development of very cost-effective solutions based on the LUXELL FPA. With dimensions of 56 mm x 40 mm x 29.5 mm (without connector), the compact-size LUXELL CORE-S module enables full integration in Industry 4.0 applications and factories of future production lines.

New Infrared Technologies’ (NIT) TACHYON Series of high-speed imaging MWIR (midwave infrared) cameras provide frame rates of up to 10,000 fps (frames per second) at the full resolution of up to 128×128 pixels – in uncooled operation.
While the TACHYON 16k CAMERA features 2,000 fps at full resolution, the TACHYON 16K CAMERA PLUS model allows up to 4,000 fps at full resolution as well as software-configurable ROI windowing modes, hardware NUC correction and selectable data transmission modes. Uncooled and affordable, fast and robust, the compact size TACHYON 16K CAMERA models are optimal for volume requirements and targeted for full integration in Industry 4.0 applications.
Both TACHYON 16K CAMERA and CAMERA PLUS models are based on NIT’s TACHYON 16K FPA (Focal Plane Array), sensitive in the 1 µm to 5 µm spectral range. This FPA utilizes VPD PbSe, entirely developed and manufactured by NIT, providing the first quantum infrared technology monolithically compatible with Si-CMOS circuitry. With on-chip A/D readout electronics as well as on-chip dark current cancellation circuit and a digital interface for control and data, the TACHYON 16K FPA features global shutter snapshot readout of 14 Bit raw data and a programmable integration time between 20 µs and 1,000 µs.
NIT’s TACHYON 1024 microCAMERA is an uncooled MWIR camera with an IP67-rated enclosure for industrial environments. The camera is powered through a USB 2.0 (high speed) interface with industrial M12 USB connector and capable to reach a frame rate of 1,000 fps. Its miniaturized size, based in a SWaP-C concept, ensures perfect integration into the production process.
The TACHYON 1024 microCAMERA is based on NIT’s TACHYON 1024 FPA, an uncooled 32x32 VPD PbSe focal plane array with digital interface and high-speed capabilities up to 10,000 images per second, sensitive in the 1 µm to 5 µm spectral range. With on-chip A/D readout electronics as well as on-chip dark current cancellation circuit and a digital interface for control and data, the TACHYON 1024 FPA features snapshot readout of 10 Bit raw data and a programmable integration time between 100 µs and 1,000 µs.
Based on the TYCHYON 1024 FPA, NIT also provides the TACHYON 1024 microCORE uncooled MWIR module with USB connection. The module is USB-powered and capable to reach an acquisition frame rate of 1,000 fps. Optimized size and affordable cost ensure perfect integration in the production process, also in cost-sensitive machine vision applications.
