Our 170P0-1-50-S MID-IR tunable OPO (optical parametric oscillator) source combines pump laser and OPO in a single, rugged housing and generates laser pulses in the mid-infrared (MID-IR) range around 1700 nm – the applications for such wavelengths are mainly in the field of photoacoustic imaging, in addition to gas chromatography and other analysis tasks.
The OPO’s wavelength can be tuned in an extended range from 1700 nm to 1750 nm. Other wavelength ranges (e.g. 1500 nm to 2000 nm) are available on demand. Using an electro-optical Q-switch, very short pulses with typical pulse widths of 2 ns to 5 ns are generated.

Our DL series of dye lasers is a compact, easy to install complement to our DPSS laser products. Designed primarily to operate with the SPOT DPSS lasers for short pulses, the dye lasers can also be combined with the FQS DPSS lasers to produce higher energies.
DL series dye lasers convert the output of our pulse lasers to other useful wavelengths, whilst maintaining the benefits of short pulses and high repetition rates. The self-contained dye reservoir and pump enable operation for several weeks on one dye fill. Options of broad and narrow wavelength bandwidth (15 nm to <1 nm) are available.

Our FQS range of DPSS lasers builds on the very successful SPOT actively Q-switched laser technology. Adopting key technical design features, the FQS range provides a series of models delivering up to 400 µJ with pulse widths of less than 5 ns.
The FQS lasers’ jitter is maintained at a low level across the range. The compact laser head can be used to pump our dye laser products to produce a comprehensive range of wavelengths. The UV variant of the FQS has been very successful as a light source for MALDI (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization) applications.

Utilising advanced technology, SPOT actively Q-switched DPSS lasers provide a short pulse output (pulse widths <2 ns) at repetition rates from single shot up to >50 kHz with very low jitter. The series features fundamental YAG wavelength at 1064 nm and harmonics down to 355 nm. The compact design enables the lasers to be easily integrated into scientific instrumentation.
Applications include laser induced fluorescence, time resolved fluorescence, micromachining, biotechnology, plasma generation, remote sensing, photo acoustic imaging, MALDI mass spectrometry and MALDI imaging.
SPOT laser systems consist of a laser head with a separate power supply unit. Both units are connected with a cable which is hard wired into the laser head while having a 37 way ‘D’ connector for connection to the power supply unit.
The SPOT DPSS laser series feature simple, user-friendly control with the minimum of user defined parameters. The systems are designed as fixed power level devices under automatic operation, or power can be varied by adjusting the pump diode current via RS232 interface.

The diode-pumped solid-state laser TETRA emits very short laser pulses (< 5 ns) of high energy (up to 20 µJ) with four wavelengths in the visible range, which are particularly suitable for multispectral photoacoustic imaging. Using sophisticated technology, the TETRA laser can switch from pulse to pulse between these four wavelengths with a very high pulse repetition frequency of 2 kHz.
Utilizing the Raman effect and the light of a 532 nm pump laser, the TETRA laser additionally generates the wavelengths 555 nm, 579 nm and 606 nm. A tunable optical filter separates the four wavelengths and routes one wavelength at a time to the optical output of the unit at a switching frequency of up to 2 kHz. This makes TETRA about ten times faster than tunable lasers based on OPOs (Optical Parametric Oscillators) – typical frequencies of such OPO systems range from 100 Hz to 200 Hz – while also being considerably more cost-effective.
The wavelengths emitted by TETRA are well matched to the absorption curves of many blood components, making the laser particularly suitable for photoacoustic tomography in biomedicine. We have equipped TETRA with a number of features to meet the requirements of medical safety standards for use in clinical environments. For instance a fast, fault-tolerant shutter at the laser output interrupts the beam in the event of a fault in the shortest possible time in order to avoid any hazards to a patient.
