Viavi Solutions’ Polatis range of optical matrix switches are high-performance, fully non-blocking all-optical matrix switches, available with port counts from 4x4 up to 192x192. Based on Polatis' patented DirectLight optical switching technology that has been proven in the most challenging defense applications and field proven in a wide range of commercial applications by major network equipment manufacturers, the devices are designed to meet the highest performance, security and reliability needs of mission-critical applications with low optical loss, compact size, low power requirements and fast switching speeds.

The Polatis series includes both an optical switch module (OSM), available in single mode versions from 4x4 up to 32x32 and in multimode versions from 4x4 up to 16x16, as well as an optical switch tray (OST), available in single mode versions from 4x4 up to 32x32 and in multi mode versions from 4x4 up to 16x16, with optional internal power monitors and variable attenuators available.

The Polatis series utilizes the patented DirectLight beam-steering technology and optionally features fully integrated power monitors, variable optical attenuation and optical taps. The series’ advanced dynamic web GUI and network management tools reduce costs and improve management. With support of Software-Defined Networks (SDNs) via embedded OpenFlow, NETCONF and RESTCONF control interfaces, the Polatis series interfaces directly with cutting edge cloud-based network and infrastructure testing applications.

Latching, Non-latching; 2x2; Fiber Type SM, MM; 1240 to 1640 nm; Insertion Loss 1 to 2 dB; Crosstalk 75 dB; Switching Time 0.4 to 1 ms Sercalo Microtechnology’s DOUBLE and QUAD 2X2 rack-mountable bypass switch modules are fiber optic switches based on the MEMS technology. The switching mechanism offers the reliability of a solid state device; it neither wears out nor degrades over time. The components are designed to meet Telcordia 1221 quality standards. Sercalo Microtechnology’s DOUBLE and QUAD 2x2 bypass switches are powered by a 4.75 to 5.25 VDC voltage on the supply pin. It comes with latching (option A) or non-latching (option B) fiber optic switches. To set the state of a switch, a logic level high must be applied to the correspondent pin for at least 20 ms (latching, option A) or continuously (non-latching, option B). All the control pins must remain at a defined potential during use. A capacitive sensor allows reading out the switch position. The sensor’s output is a pulled-up collector, low (0 V) in cross and high (5 V) in bar state.
