Field-proven as the industry standard, Corning’s PANDA PM series of polarization maintaining (PM) optical fibers are designed with the best polarization maintaining properties and are the industry standard in the world today. The fibers offer low attenuation and excellent birefringence for high-performance applications.

The PANDA PM fiber design uses two stress applying parts to create an extremely high birefringence, resulting in fiber with excellent polarization maintaining properties. This design was invented and patented by Corning. Available in a wide range of standard operating wavelengths from 400 up to 1550 nm and with a variety of coating designs, PANDA PM specialty fibers are optimal for high-performance polarization maintaining fiber applications. This field-proven fiber supports high growth applications and performs well over a wide temperature range.


Corning offers the broadest portfolio of PANDA PM fibers with a wide range of design options. In addition to regular PANDA PM fibers, Corning’s PANDA PM series of polarization maintaining (PM) optical fibers include:

  • Bend-insensitive products (PANDA PM Bend Insensitive: PMBI, PMSR)
  • Variants with high numerical aperture (PANDA PM High NA: PM13-HNA, PM85-HNA)
  • Fibers with thermally-diffused expanded core (HA15-PS-U25D(TEC))
  • Variants with reduced cladding (RC PANDA PM: RC PM, RC13-15-PX-U17EBL-M4)
