Paints and Coatings available from Stock
Super water-repellent materials available from AMS Technologies allow coating of objects like radar domes, antennas, power masts, bridges, and a broad range of materials. While traditional waterproofing prevents water from permeating, these exceptional coating substances keep water away completely and prevent adhesion of snow, ice and other substances.
Water hitting surfaces coated with our material is instantaneously repelled and disperses into small droplets with minimum adhesion – instantly rolling off angled or vertical surfaces, leaving a water film free object. The coating material is available for outdoor and indoor use – and also water-based, friendly to human health and the environment and with no flash point which allows for easier and less expensive shipment and storage.
Additionally, these water-repellent coatings feature a photocatalytic self-cleaning effect – activated by sunlight (UV radiation) and greatly improving the problem of coating deterioration caused by air pollution, etc.
Related Products
In addition to paints and coatings, AMS Technologies’ range of chemicals includes high-performance coolants with low toxicity as well as adhesives and sealants for bonding of optical components.
Our reliable coolants with corrosion and biological inhibitors have been tested successfully with a variety of metals or plastics and will not clog components.
Our broad range of state-of-the-art optical adhesives (glues), curable with either UV light or heat, is used for fast, high-precision bonding of optical components, where the adhesive is index-matched to the used components. Our series of sealants for optical parts is suitable for applications like sealing the openings and junctions of protective casings with very low moisture permeability.
Definition
Paints and coatings are materials made of amorphous substances that are used to apply a firmly adhering layer to surfaces of workpieces. Both terms refer to both the applied layer itself and the corresponding process of its application. Almost all known and solid materials can be used as coating materials and carrier materials.
Depending on the coating process and the application conditions, only one (thin or thick) layer is created during a coating process, or several layers of the same or different materials. The painting and/or coating methods differ in the type of layer application in chemical, mechanical, thermal and thermomechanical processes.
Alongside process techniques such as alloying, doping or the structuring of surfaces, coating or painting material application is also suitable for changing or improving the physical, electrical and/or chemical properties of metallic or semi-metallic materials.
For example, the protection of materials such as metals against corrosion is one important task of coatings, but also the sealing against the penetration of moisture and liquid substances, all the way to creating a new surface with strongly water-repellent properties. As the mechanical adhesion of paints or coatings to the substrate is of great importance, its surface is usually pre-treated with additional substances such as primers or fillers, or adhesion promoters are used with the coating.
