OZ Optics’ MBC-TUNABLE, MBC-SSB, MBC-DUAL-BIAS, and MBC-SUPER are full-function miniature OEM versions of the MBC modulator bias controller family.
The MBC-TUNABLE miniature modulator bias controller is designed to be used in analog systems and/or applications. This tunable modulator bias controller can be used to lock the working point of the modulator at any working point of the modulator working function. The locking modes and slopes are selectable under software control via the GUI. An optional pigtailed photodetector is available. An external photodetector may also be used.
OZ Optics’ MBC-SSB single sideband miniature modulator bias controller is designed to be used with DPMZ modulators for single-sideband applications.
The MBC-DUAL-BIAS dual-port miniature modulator bias controller is a null locking only miniature OEM version of the MBC modulator bias controller family. It is designed to be used with MZ modulators with two DC ports for extremely high extinction ratio operation in analog systems and/or applications.
With an added feature for dense pulse applications, the MBC-SUPER miniature modulator bias controller can be used to lock the working point of the modulator at the positive slope quadrature (quad+), negative slope quadrature (quad-), null or peak points of its characteristic curve. The locking modes and slopes are selectable through the GUI. A pigtailed photodetector is included, an external photodetector may also be used. The digital technique reduces noise and pilot tone amplitude, while improving the performance. With the pulse mode, the Null locking accuracy has been increased.
