High-frequency Current Transformers

Product information "High-frequency Current Transformers"

Max. DC Current 200-20,000 A; Max. AC Current 2-71 A; Output 0.025-5.0 V/A; Operating Frequency 0.5 Hz - 500 MHz; Connector Type SMA, BNC; Rise Time 0.875-17.5 ns

Magnelab’s HFCT series of high-frequency current transformers has been designed to provide very accurate, non-contact, non-destructive measurements of either single or repetitive bipolar or unipolar pulses.

HFCT current transformers contain a solid toroid core and will measure input ranges of 200 to 20,000 A DC or 2 to 71 A AC. The output signal of the transformers with voltage output ranges from 0.025 to 5.0 V/A is an accurate voltage waveform representation of the measured current, which can be analyzed on an oscilloscope, RF power meter, spectrum analyzer or custom interface circuitry. HFCT current transformers also work for the continuous wave.

The AC current sensors in this series measure current from just microamperes up to 20,000 A. Coming in five different case sizes with opening sizes from ¼” (6.35 mm, CT-B models) to 2” (50.8 mm, CT-F models) and with a choice between SMA or BNC connector types, these broad frequency response current transformers can operate from 0.5 Hz to 500 MHz.

HFCT high-frequency current transformers feature a very high frequency cutoff, which ensures that fast transients can be faithfully rendered, as well as a broad operating temperature range of -20 to +120 °C. Nominal accuracy is 0.5%, spread over a wide bandwidth. Compared to competing current sensors, Magnelab’s HFCT series is as much as five times more sensitive to signal measurement at low intensity.
