HTC Series TEC Temperature Controllers

Product information "HTC Series TEC Temperature Controllers"

Output Current TEC ±1.5, ±3, ±4 A; PCB Mount; Supply Voltage 5-12 VDC; Temperature Stability 0.0009°C

With its advanced and reliable circuitry, Wavelength Electronics’ HTC series of component type TEC temperature controllers achieves 0.0009°C temperature stability. Its low-profile package is ideal for designs with space constraints and can be mounted in a number of different ways. The HTC can be electrically connected to a PCB or by using a SIP connector and cable. The heatsink can be bolted directly to the HTC series device, or the device can be bolted directly to the equipment chassis to maximize space efficiency.

The ultra-stable linear, PI control loop offers maximum stability, while the bipolar current source has been designed for higher efficiency.

The HTC series drives up to ±4.0 A for either thermoelectrics (bipolar) or resistive heaters (unipolar). Three maximum output current ranges are available: ±1.5, ±3 and ±4 A. While regular drivers for 1.5 and 3 A are designed for 0.031 inch (0.79 mm) thick printed circuit boards (PCBs), each of the models (including drivers for 4 A) is also available as a “HTCxxoo-62” variant, suitable for mounting on 0.062 inch (1.57 mm) thick PCBs.

The HTC Series TEC temperature controllers are easily configured for any design. Virtually any type of temperature sensor can be used with the HTC, and a built-in sensor bias current source simplifies use with resistive temperature sensors. The independently adjustable proportional gain (P) and integrator time constant (I) can be modified to optimize temperature overshoot and stability.

Other features offer added flexibility. A single resistor sets the maximum output current to load. Add a diode to operate resistive heaters with a unipolar output current. An onboard reference voltage simplifies potentiometer control of the temperature setpoint. You can also choose to operate remotely with an external setpoint voltage. Two monitor pins provide access to the temperature setpoint voltage and the actual sensor voltage.

These fibers can be coated with a variety of polymers or even metalized with aluminium or gold for extreme temperature performance. While the AFS series features a low hydroxyl ion concentration (low OH) and works in the visible to IR range, SFS variants with high hydroxyl ion concentration are suitable for the UV to visible range. Options include Acrylate (-Y), Polyimide (-T), Nylon (-N), Tefzel (-Z), Aluminium (-A) and Gold (-G) coatings as well as standard (AFS/SFS), high (AFH/SFH) and low (AFM/SFM) numerical aperture. As a further option, fibers can also be provided with a broad selection of shaped tips – standard configurations as well as custom designed shapes. Shaped tip fibers provide optimum control over beam delivery and/or increased efficiency of light collection. Some fiber types can also be end capped to achieve higher coupled power into a fiber core by reducing the power density at the air / silica interface, commonly the point of laser damage. End cap diameters and lengths are offered for select numerical apertures and fiber cores size, but can be easily customized for a variety of fiber types and specialized applications. Additionally, all fiber types can be equipped on demand with Fiberguide’s patented RARe Motheye anti-reflective technology that enhances fiber transmission performance and significantly increases the damage threshold for your application over a large wavelength range.
