XP Glassman’s GX Series are sophisticated 25 kW high voltage AC/DC power supplies with low ripple and noise. They are air insulated, fast response, 11U rack-mount units with tight regulation. A broad range of models is available with output voltage ranges from 0 to 1 kVDC through 0 to 100 kVDC. Up to eight GX Series power supplies can be connected in parallel, providing up to 200 kW output power and active current sharing with dedicated master-slave configuration.
Air is the GX Series’ prime dielectric medium. No oil or encapsulation is used to impede serviceability or increase weight. Internal circuitry constantly senses and integrates arcs that occur over a given time. In the event a system or load arcing problem develops and exceeds factory-set parameters, the power supply will cycle off in an attempt to clear the fault and then automatically restart after a preset time interval. The GX Series’ high voltage output is inhibited for a short period after each load arc to quickly extinguish the arc.
Typically, ripple is less than 0.1% RMS of rated voltage at full load. The microcontroller-based front panel control and communication interface provides high-resolution voltage and current programming with either front panel digital encoders, analog remote interface or integral RS232/USB serial ports and optional Ethernet interface. The unit stores power supply parameters at each AC turn-off sequence.
The GX Series’ standard operation mode is constant voltage/current. Automatic crossover from constant-voltage to constant-current regulation provides protection against overloads, arcs and short circuits. A rear panel switch allows selection of either constant-current or current-trip operation. The GX Series also features a forced air, enhanced reliability system with redundant thermal overload protection including temperature sensing and fan speed monitor.
Standard accessories for the GX Series include a remote interface mating connector, a detachable 2,4 m shielded high voltage coaxial output cable, null modem and USB cable as well as all chassis interconnect cables.
