Freeform Optics
Product information "Freeform Optics"
Other than standard optics manufactured in series, our freeform optics are always custom specified, developed and manufactured to meet a very specific optical imaging requirement. While conventional optics such as spherical, aspherical or cylindrical lenses are rotationally symmetrical, a key characteristic of freeform optics is the lack of symmetry (both rotational and translational) with respect to the main optical axis or perpendicular to the main optical plane.
With special techniques, freeform optics can be realized in unconventional shapes, for example multifocal optics or those that compensate for asymmetries created by other components. Typical applications are e.g. light field shaping in car headlights, laser beam shaping, fiber coupling or imaging systems.
Together with our supplier GH Optics, we are happy to support you with specification, design and manufacturing of your customized freeform optics. Get in touch with our optics specialists to discuss a freeform optics solution exactly tailored your projects’s requirements.
