Chirped Volume Bragg Gratings

Product information "Chirped Volume Bragg Gratings"

Wavelength 600-2500 nm; Bandwidth 0.2-100 nm; Diffraction Efficiency 5-99%; Thickness Up to 50 mm; Aperture Up to 20x20 mm

OptiGrate’s chirped volume Bragg gratings (CBGs) are diffractive optical elements operating as reflecting Bragg gratings with a period gradually varying along direction of beam propagation. This feature results in reflection of different wavelengths from different holographically recorded planes inside the grating.

OptiGrate’s BragGrate™ Pulse is the first commercially available Chirped Bragg Grating (CBG) based product designed for the stretching and compression of ultra-short (femtosecond and picosecond) laser pulses in Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA) and other Ultra-Short Pulse Laser (USPL) systems. It is the most compact and robust stretcher/compressor solution for high-energy and high-average-power ultra-short pulsed laser systems.

The BragGrate™ Tuner is a reflecting volume Bragg grating with chirped period in one direction across its aperture, recorded in a bulk of photosensitive silicate glass. BragGrate™ Tuners can be used as an output coupler or HR mirror in a laser resonator. It enables both spectral stabilization and tuning of the laser radiation. High laser damage threshold makes these gratings suitable for usage in high-power and high-energy pulsed lasers. Tunable lasers based on these components are simple, compact, and robust. Simple linear translation of grating without angular adjustment is needed for wavelength tuning. Lasers with BragGrate™ Tuners can operate in selective laser melting (SLM) regime.

Manufacturer "OptiGrate"
Founded in 1999, OptiGrate pioneered and successfully brought to market the innovative technology of volume Bragg grating based optical filters. OptiGrate’s full range of micro-optic components includes transmitting, reflecting and chirped volume Bragg gratings. The company offers volume Bragg gratings (VBGs) with the widest range of specifications and manufactures VBGs with efficiencies greater than 99.9%. OptiGrate also offers the narrowest linewidths, largest dimensions, lowest absorption, and other record parameters for their cutting-edge technology products that can be customized to meet customer-specific requirements. The unique micro‐optic components made by OptiGrate enable dramatic performance improvement of laser systems, vast miniaturization and cost reduction of analytical instruments and ultrafast lasers for medical, pharmaceutical, defense, nanotech and other applications. Vertical integration of VBG manufacturing (including a photosensitive glass production area, a holographic area and a laser development facility) as well as superior ability to optimize photo-thermo-refractive (PTR) glass and VBG characteristics have allowed OptiGrate to become a reliable supplier of diffractive optical components for a large number of government contractors and industrial manufacturers. In 2017, OptiGrate has been acquired by IPG Photonics Corporation, a leader in high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers.

EOPC High-Speed Electro-Optic Polarization Controller/Scrambler
Pigtail Type; 1064, 1550, 2000 nm; 2,3,4 Stages; Fiber Type SM, PM; Max. Insertion Loss 1.1, 1.2 dB, Max. PDL <0.15, <0.20 dB; Min RL 50 dB; Max. PMD 0.5 ps; Optical Power Handling 500 mW OZ Optics' EOPC high-speed electro-optic polarization controller is based on a novel, low-loss, high-speed, free-space electro-optic crystal technology. It provides a simple, efficient means to quickly manipulate the state of polarization by applying an external voltage. High-speed polarization state management is enabled using two to four crystals in a row with remarkably low loss, all housed in a compact and robust butterfly package. The device can be offered with 2, 3 or 4 crystals (depending on the customer’s requirement), and by applying external voltages one can change/manipulate/control the output polarization state. For endless polarization control, a device with 4 crystal elements is required, while a 3-elements device will be sufficient for polarization scrambling mode operation. The compact, motionless, and vibration-free design allows fast linear response with less than 10 μs response time to the control signal. The controller's rapid response speed easily handles changes in polarization, caused by the external environment, and is highly suitable for polarization controlling and scrambling to either average PDL and PDG effects, or for making PMD, PDL or DOP measurements. This makes the EOPC device ideal for precise test and measurement applications. Key Features: Rapid Response Time: < 10 µs Linear Response Solid State Crystals Low Loss Insertion Loss (IL): <1.2 dB (4 Stages), <1.1 dB (3 Stages), <1.0 dB (2 Stages) Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL): <0.20 dB (4 Stages), <0.20 dB (3 Stages), <0.15 dB (2 Stages) Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD): <0.5 ps Activation Loss: <0.05 dB Per Channel Return Loss (RL): >50 dB Flexible Configuration Compact Size: 70 mm x 41 mm x 9.5 mm Wide Operating Wavelength Range: 1064 nm, 1550 nm, 2000 nm Long Operating Lifetime Optical Power Handling: 500 mW Electrical Response Time (Rise/Fall Time): <10 μs Vπ (@Room Temperature): Vπ <40 V for 1064 nm, Vπ <60 V for 1550 nm Modulation Rate (Sinusoid): DC to 130 kHz Fiber Type: Single Mode (SM), Polarization Maintaining (PM) Operating Temperature: 0°C to +80°C Applications: Polarization Scrambling; Polarization Stabilization and Management; Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) Mitigation; Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) Mitigation; Polarization Dependent Gain (PDG) Mitigation; PDL, DOP, and PMD Measurement Systems; Interferometers and Sensors; Fiber Lasers; Polarization Demultiplexing; Test Instrumentation; OCT Systems
